Any low step score matched applicants that can provide any words of encouragement/advice?
Matched this cycle at an away with high 240s, no research year. put your head down, grind and work hard at your aways. at the end of the day, programs want someone they can work with personality wise, show up early, stay late, ask to help in other clinics if yours ends, etc. do well on the end of rotation exam (many derm aways have this) to "prove" you can hang derm knowledge wise, express interest in your aways, tell them you want to go there, do well in your interview, high 240s isnt a death sentence but it wont get you random interviews. you will need to bank on home and aways, do as many aways as possible
Some people matched with failed step 1 this year
it's kind of crazy that we think a high 240s on step is still considered a low score esp in any other field it'd be fine
