Has anyone genuinely gotten an away after emailing and expressing interest? Because it seems like everyone does this now? I have emailed so many programs and people and haven't recieved a single response
this doesnt guarentee an away, but is probably the only way to get one

yeah, but what other ways can you get them after applying and not getting any? without emails or connections?
n=1 but yes, I sent an email to one of my top places ( they were still showing up on VSLo so I knew they hadn't filled all spots). Got a response to my email and an offer.
I emailed last cycle and no one responded but later i got an offer from that place (I also emailed others and got rejected so not sure if it mattered or not but def didn't hurt)
