what even goes into deciding who is picked for aways? I thought I had a decent application but not having any offers yet is also making me nervous for ERAS and if I will even get interviews :(

I know!! I hear that sometimes it's literally first come first serve (and I can't sit by my laptop all day on rotations but I can submit that night or next day?) but also I haven't been sitting around twiddling my thumbs the first 3 years of medical school. It's really making me start to doubt whether I'm supposed to go into derm :( are aways that big of a deal for residencies?

I heard the same that a lot are first come, first served but ive had friends get offers at programs when we applied the same day so now I just dont know what to think lol.
