I hope that we treat each other better in real life than we did on this sheet. Good luck in dermatology everyone :)

People who went unmatched got the short end of the stick here again and i'm sorry. The spreadsheet below is posted on the main page and there is also a derm discord that may be helpful. All the best next cycle :)

Can we please lock this sheet? This is making really sad to see how things are going. < It's only a specific group of people doing it who are trying to ruin the spreadsheet for others. < i feel like its 2 people going back and forth and im just enjoying it from the sidelines lol

#4159Mar 21

Yes, it will be locked in a few mins.

To the OP in A3, putting your racism/bigotry/prejudice in larger font and bolding it, doesn't make it any more intelligent or creative. It actually feeds into previously held stereotypes on grievance. Also, when you try to protect the entire row from anyone responding, it shows that you're not really able to emotionally handle criticism which won't work too well for you in Derm residency when it comes to faculty. Do better.

#4158Mar 21

i actually didn't choose it as it was already the format of the cell but i kept it because i love it. ADD IT TO THE LIST OF THINGS TO BE MAD ABOUT < So what you're telling me is that you don't know how to use a Google spreadsheet to change fonts. Noted.

don't delete my post. i said what i said. this whole thing would have been avoided if white women, who by the way are the most match demographic in derm, kept their shitty ass opinions to themselves. never enough. i don't like that derm is all white people too but did I say anything? nope. but we all have to hear what you have to say because we are all at the mercy of white women.

you may be a teensy bit racist, if you are more worried about the 50 than the 500.

#4156Mar 21

Yeah, I don't think we'll be taking further lectures on racism from people on this spreadsheet who think that it's perfectly ok to personally attack Asian American med students, while claiming to defend POCs. Kinda think that sunk your entire premise from the start. Should have kept that in your drafts.

Mar 21

you are right. only black and latino/latina people can be talked about. asian and white people are off limits. < Nope has nothing to do with that actually. Has to do w/actual verbal racial attacks on them here by those claiming to want a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive specialty. I'm a URM and you don't speak for me. (now you can accuse me of either lying about my URM status or being a prop for Asians/Whites, go ahead.

If the Spreadsheet Owner locks this sheet, I created a Google sheet where re-applicants and others in serious need of help can ask constructive help to strengthen future (re-)applications. Please let me know what tabs would be helpful to have on the sheet. I am sure those in need will be grateful to individuals who are willing answer questions constructively, offer constructive advice, and spread blessings. Conversations are expected to be focused on topics to constructively improve (re-)applications; no discussion outside of getting and giving high quality help (example: no politics, no social issues, etc). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Uy0U3ppK2RnwDc7HDRd5e5DpgIo3BkcEevj7LJOuX2I/edit#gid=0

<---- Great idea whoever came up with this!!!! I think this will be really helpful. I matched, but since I have nothing to do from now until med school graduation, I was thinking of adding a tab of good comprehensive list of derm research fellowships, as well as categorizing derm residency programs, so that future applicants don't get lost wading through websites during the application cycle. Also, on a separate note, maybe we can share Dermatology e-books? I have quite a few that I've collected over the years. I set up an email: dermmatch2022@gmail.com, if people are interested. The thing is I don't know any free cloud that has greater than 20 GB (yes, I have more than this), so if anyone knows, I'd be happy to transfer it there and share w/everyone. Another idea I came up with is that we could take something like Andrews/Bolognia/Wolverton and split the chapters among derm residents and take typed notes on it throughout intern year (it doesn't have to be one person per chapter but like several per chapter so that it's easier on everyone), and then we can share those notes among all of us when actual derm residency starts. Just a thought and some brainstorming there.

Can we all just respect each other as future colleagues? The biased attacks on groups of people (both URM and ORM) goes to show how much medicine needs to change. < Just a hunch, maybe stop treating Asian Americans below as the "new white people." < why? they attached themselves to white people when it was cool lol now that it is no longer working, they now want to be urms LOL < You need real mental therapy for your racism and bigotry. You truly do. I'll pray for you. < It's amazing how some URMs are unable to see the nuisances of other minority groups situations while vocally tauting their own. < They're the perpetual victim. They now feel comfortable attacking Asians because they never feel good enough. < "they attached themselves to white people" wtf does that even mean < They're saying Asian Americans are "white adjacent." Meaning they try to act and conform and uphold white people's societal standards. It's so laughable on its face how blatantly racist it is. < idk about everyone else but i've heard the "ching chong" bullshit too many times to feel close to white people < That doesn't count for them. You also assume URMs won't do that to Asian people too. I've seen it as well. See the violence against Asians in places like NYC. It ain't white people.

#4154Mar 21

idk i kinda like seeing urms laugh about all this instead of being bitter. < the level of petty below is aspirational Haha < Really? I mean I see quite a few URM belows that have a LOT of racial grievance below w/a chip on the shoulder (and that's assuming they even matched) <we matched...and i mean it is annoying but it is also kinda fun now that we have matched and most of you haven't < Sweetie, I matched. Don't get too far ahead of yourself just because Ilana Rosman is blowing smoke up your URM ass on Derm Twitter to think you're somehow better than whites and Asians (Emory Derm clearly learned their lesson the hard way hence the change in racial composition of their matched list this year). People like yourself make this board toxic. Try graduating from middle school. < you're the one with a hard on for ilana. i don't need her to match. in fact with how pissed you are, you probably needed her help more than I did, and it is not "sweetie" it is COLLEAGUE OR DR. "I MATCHED DESPITE HAVING PRESSED WHITE WOMEN IN MY WAY EVERY STEP OF THE WAY" you decide

Mar 21

< I see you still have that large chip on your shoulder, sweetie. Might want to get your derm SOC mentor at Penn to write for a consult for Mohs surgery removal [it might be a white man though] since it seems to be a chronic condition for you and quite deep especially with your hatred of white women. Stay pressed. I didn't need Ilana Rosman's help. I had the grades, board scores, and the derm research already to get plenty of interviews. We all totally laugh at her at our home derm program. Real life isn't Derm Twitter. < i am easy to doxx because as it has been pointed out many times in the past 24 hours, i matched at a program you are probably also mad about and there are so few of us so I will leave you to your misery. I can understand why despite being privilege, you are still so salty you might as well be the atlantic ocean. See you in conferences, if your programs covers it, because I know I won't be seeing you at my program. Stay blessed :) < I think post Derm match you should invest in some therapy after your Mohs surgery chip on the shoulder removal. Maybe request it on your Amazon #MedGradWishList so people can donate to it. This is an anon spreadsheet. Nobody has any idea who you are because you're not that important. That's why you're still so angry and pressed. Your (false) assumption that I matched to a lower tier program is exactly what I'm talking about. Good luck. Derm boards is unforgiving at that pass/fail mark and you'll need all the help you can get. (hair flip)

umm i don't get the connection between urms and derm twitter? how did derm twitter get into the conversation lol

What worries me is how some of you harbor these feelings but will be treating patients from ALL backgrounds. Those of you with the biased comments below idk how you made it this far without being made out and I am disappointed to call you guys colleagues. DO BETTER. If you matched go and celebrate! Another person’s win doesn’t dull your shine. We all got into this field to help people and you guys have already lost sight of that. Take all this energy and put it into Bolognia. But seriously, take a look in the mirror and see if you like all this hatred you’re spewing.

i was really hoping to be able to live on my own as a resident but 1BR apartments are like 50% of my post-tax PGY1 salary :(

can't believe they said we need less white school shooters 🤣🤣😭 < way more people die due to gang violence... which i don't need to explain the primary demographic < i am a medical student, who do you think is more likely to kill me? gang violence or peeved white classmate? < probably still gang violence < idk as a urm from chicago, i feel like it is a toss up between white class mate and police but okay less gang violence in addition to less police brutality and less white students shooting everyone up < Yes, I've heard it happens a lot there in "MAGA Country," Jussie. < you can see his family pissed because black people don't support him. if you act like a white person without common sense, you will be ousted too. Same with Candace Owens. we don't fuck with people because they are black. if you act as in same as the whites, to them you go. Ask Jussie or Candace or Omarosa < "act like a white person" so toxic

#4152Mar 21

the scream i scromed HAHAHA < I died. I love this specialty. < i'm like gasping for air. < on this topic, for those moving to expensive cities, don't live with them either. you finna get lost and not found.

Please continue filling out aways tab, would really appreciate it! < no thanks, I'm gonna tell my ORM friend about the good away I did so she has less competition and higher chance of getting it < so your friend can only match without competition? It is giving mediocre. Hahaha! < as an ORM, odds are stacked against you < yet 90% of the match 3 days ago is orms. < because ORMs beat the odds < 90% odds. < it's derm you take every advantage you get < unless you are a urm in which case your 10% is too much

#4151Mar 21

I know people will think that is harsh, but I can't blame the ORM OP there and I'm a URM. I think the application process has changed drastically spurred a lot by COVID, virtual audition rotations, virtual derm interviews. Quite a few programs "want our own URM" and you feel very tokenized.

Spreadsheet Owner: I know some people are getting unruly but can you please consider not locking til Friday? ...there's many unmatched folks who still need advice :/

#4150Mar 21

has it been helpful though? it is matched people bitching because they are not happy with where they matched without empathy for people here who went unmatched < Yes, the interspersed posts with advice are VERY helpful. Keeping this sheet unlocked gives those who are unmatched the ability to continue asking advice. This is the one resource and only time we'll ever have to ask timely advice b/c after this sheet's locked, everyone will disperse. And, we can’t get timely advice on next year’s sheet because they’re all gonna be “mum/gunners” during the cycle… just like how it was this year, the year before, etc.

I think the spreadsheet should go until the end of May (when MS-4s graduate from med school and move on, and MS-3s applying for derm head into and prepare for audition derm electives) before locking it, but I also totally understand the med student mods being so tired of the work of moderating this spreadsheet at this point (and not just because of the URM/ORM derm application process conversations below, which the mods have been kind enough to actually not harshly moderate but allow both sides to honestly discuss this issue). The mods this year have really been great but I get that it takes a lot of work and they may just want to move on at this point. I do agree though, for many applicants including those who went unmatched, this is like the only uncurated/unvarnished resource. < when have they ever gone till May?

Mar 21

< Someone else can take over. I'd be willing to and keep the conversations after Friday, March 25 strictly on getting advice... Locked this cell so the owner knows who to reach.

I think certain groups are overrepresented in the NFL and NBA... I propose we decrease athleticism requirements for white and Asian players to ensure a fair playing field < how is this our business in medicine? < As doctors it's our moral duty < agreed. less black people in nba/nfl. less white people in the supreme court. less white people in the white house. less white people as ceos of f500 companies. more white people brutally murdered by police. more white people actually going to jail for crimes they commit. less black people arrested for weed. less white people in medical school or any professional school for that matter. less white people in the police force. and the best of all less white people shooting up schools < and churches and parks and apartments and movie theaters and parking lots and cars < it's "fewer" not "less" < also black people are in the NBA/NFL because white people can't play. if they could, they would have been selected over the black people. same can't be said for derm, black people can derm so there is no reason for it to still all be white < white people can play in the NBA/NFL, it's just that black people are more qualified. same goes for derm < nah they can't. if there was a white lebron, better believe he would be chosen over current lebron.

#4146Mar 21

It only becomes a true meritocracy (how it should be) when white people are not the dominant ones in the field. < I think it's more you can't buy athletism like you can essentially do in many other fields. < Slavs are white and overrepresented in the NBA.
