Just got some intel from my uncle who is a well-placed voluntary at Sinai... the place is falling apart, faculty leaving left and right, dermpath is in shambles - they are down to one guy and outside derms won't send to them anymore because it takes weeks for results and they've been saying they're hiring for a year already. Surgery is a huge problem - residents don't get enough cases, and their Mohs surgeons are mostly leaving or have left already. The nepotism has always been crazy there but it's basically a program filled with their own fellows who in turn were applicants who didn't match, not exactly the cream of the crop. Teaching is lacking and residents have been told that they don't need robust didactics, you learn by doing (one resident recently complained to him that they have not gotten a single lecture from their PD/APD in the past 3 years). There is no way it's anywhere close to a top tier program. Most of the voluntaries were there because they were loyal to the old chair, who is really the only reason anyone went there.
