Just an FYI for future med students / premeds - NYU, Stony Brook, and Wayne State have early assurance derm residency for their med students that you apply to when you're applying to med school. If you get into the early assurance residency, med school bceomes accelerated and you can graduate in 3 yrs. (edit: NYU is now 3 yrs for all students)
NYU med school is now 3 years for all students with an optional fourth year for research. Maybe you should take an optional year of research to make sure your claims have some basis before you just start saying random incorrect nonsense
I'm sorry, I forgot that they went to a 3yr MD for all students! But the rest of my info still stands, including 3yr MD for Stony Brook early assurance derm. I don't understand where the vitriol is coming from? Just tryna keep everyone in the know.
if youre trying to keep everyone in the know, dont post wrong info?
Ok, and you corrected me, thank you? But maybe admit yourself into an anger management program. you're going to be a doctor ffs learn to communicate your ideas without being mean
Maybe they need an optional year of mental health lmaoooo. Did not know about NYU/Stony Brook, thanks for the fun fact!
pretty sure UMiami has this too? but could be wrong
I don't think so, derm isn't listed as an accelerated residency on their website: https://med.miami.edu/medical-education/medical-programs/accelerated-pathway/participating-specialties-programs
> wait, so if i am not a Stony Brook student but applied to their Derm program, i won't be looked at because of their own students in their "early derm assurance residency"? or is this a new program that just started?
no, stony brook reserves a derm spot for a med student starting their matriculation into medical school (they basically get a seat reserved for them before they even step foot into medical school). The other derm spots are open for anyone who applies during the regular ERAS cycle
gotcha
pretty sure historically every school has 1 spot for their own students, or MD-PHD or both. the rest of the majority tends to go to away rotators or ppl with very strong ties who interviewed well otherwise
I don't think most schools guarantee a spot for a med student who is M0 and hasn't even done med school yet. Only NYU, Stony Brook, Wayne State do this as far as I know. Most med schools do however make sure they take at least 1 home student during the regular ERAS cycle.
