As a HMS MS4 who has a 260+ and RY with 20+ indexable pubs and no home interview, I feel like being at HMS is a huge con. No aways means I don't have networking with other programs, then while the ii list doesnt interview home students as a courtesy. I have 0 II rn and I want to kms wtf
I'm so sorry and I'm surprirsed the HMS name didn't garner you some :/ you're clearly qualified
OP here, PD and faculty tell us not to do aways on purpose as they can "only hurt you"...
I personally was told to do as many aways as the limit because I was a "good clinical rotator". They told the other person applying with me not to.
are u also HMS?
can confirm top programs tell their students not to do aways because 'it can only hurt them,' but i think they are realizing the game changed this year and will likely sing another song next year
How many II do you have HMSer
theyve said 0
oops> is OP the same as the HMS person below
why do you feel like being at HMS is a con op?
What is HMS
harvard
for what it's worth i was told not to do aways by a mentor who primarily worked on research w/ me and then told to do aways by res/attendings i rotated with because it would be a good way for me to stand out to programs. so i would get multiple opinions from people before deciding not to do aways
so like what changed this year?? as an aside I think the faculty are getting tired of applicants just putting pediatric derm and wanting to work with underserved communities and not actually wanting to do that in the future. so if you're planning on putting those two to stand out, don't unless you actually strongly are passionate
I mean HMS is lowkey trash. Name can only go so far, hard work matters more!
HMS toxic
why is hms toxic
i mean OP clearly worked hard lol
I'd argue it's not toxic, faculty just assume students at "elite" schools don't need as much guidance and we'll figure it out ourselves which is not necessarily true lol
