am I insane to cancel an in-person interview due to financial barriers? they are interview #13 for me
if you like the program, do it. If not, cancel. No reason to make yourself struggle financially for a program you're gonna rank low anyways!
if they're that low i feel like its fine to skip. what are the odds of falling down that low on your list? maybe im optimistic but i feel like that would be pretty uncommon
yes
what school?
is this utah? because I am in the same boat too>I know many people did NOT match with 14 in 23 and in 24!
not matching with 14 is absolutely a personality and interviewing issue, it's insane not to match with 14 in ANY specialty regardless of derm or not
I think there were less than 5 people who didnt match with 10-11 interviews based on NRMP 2024 data, so I don't think anyone knows "many" people who didnt match with 14. Maybe 1-2 over a few years
OP here, yes this is Utah and I would rank them #12 or 13 out of 13.
Update to say that NRMP 2022 and 2024 shows 1 person each year not matching with 14. So the person trying to fear monger is clearly a troll
is there a 2023 charting NRMP data link? I can't find it
theres none, nrmp only releases every 2 years
I would cancel. No point of spending the money esp if you are not thrilled about the program and you have a solid amount of interviews otherwise.
I'd say go to the interview. Honestly life happens and you never know how far down you'll match. Is it likely you won't match with 12? no. But why take the chance? You worked so hard for this, and if even improving your chances of matching a bit could possibly prevent you from having to go through this whole process again, I say swipe that CC and go for it. Maybe the interview changes your mind and makes you rank that program higher. >Totally agree!! + 1
agree and will add that I did an in-person interview this cycle that actually did make me like the program more than I thought I would and I'm glad I went
