thiis henry ford chair rant is wild at 7am lol
"dont rank us highly if"
IF?
Omg what that sounds insane
cooper was the same
if what 👀 what did he say??>> he basically went on this long rant about how everyone says they are "caring" people, but not really, and that its easy to fake being a caring person for a 6 week rotation, but what about in 20-30 years from now. and that they're looking for those kind of people. He says the program will work you hard, and don't rank us highly if you don't want to be worked hard. Additionally he was like "everyone in here is crazy smart, probably were valedictorians of your elementary school, middle school and maybe even highschool, additionally most of yall probably had three stars *** next to your name at college graduation (summa cum laude), but if you think you're perfect, don't rank us highly. We will give you feed back, we will challenge you, if you think you have already arrived at your destination don't rank us highly. We're looking for people who will be willing to go "sigh, I have so much to do, but I'm going to put my patients first because that's the kind of person i am" , if this doesn't sound appealing to you "don't rank us highly." These are some of the things I can remember after finishing my interview day. But it was all unnecessarily aggresive and lowkey patronizing. Even though everyone but him seemed nice, it really soured my day with all of that being the first thing I heard....before even being given a program overview presentation.
i interviewed earlier in the month - but i viewed it as they want residents who are not pretentious/arrogant and open to feedback. residency is a place for learning and personal growth but if you think you're already "perfect" they don't want that mentality
at the same time, theres ways to word and present that information of what the program is looking for without being condescending....>exactly
he was just being transparent not condescending imo
Adding the whole "if that's you then dont rank us highly" thing was a little offputting
I am impressed by how much of his speech you remembered
literally was going to comment the same thing, basically word for word LOL
agree I was just thinking how that is like EXACTLY how I remember it but could never had recited it myself
