does anyone have insights into Emory? current RY student who is really interested in doing an away there, but have heard some negative things about the culture there from a mentor!
if you feel comfortable w/ mentor would ask more questions. if you're really interested in doing away I would just do it and experience for yourself.
I did try to probe, but they're at a different institution and 10+ years out from training, so I just heard hearsay that they heard from other mentees who rotated/matched there!
oh ok well i can confirm that yes it's problematic but not comprehensively so..there are some amazing supportive faculty but like one that should be investigated for real.

OP here, thank you for sharing your insights! do you get the sense that residents are overall happy/feel well supported?
From what I've observed, the residents seemed to get along well with each other but I saw a situation where someone got reported by a faculty member and had to be on probation, and another resident was on probation for something academic i think? emory has a punitive culture - it personally seems like the staff/some faculty really don't trust students like I got the vibe that they look at us and say oh they're lying/doing something horrible and it's like what? that can weigh heavy on someone mentally.
