Larkin Miami's residents are some of the cringiest, most superficial residents I have ever seen. I have started blocking them on tiktok etc.
I saw this one Derm medfluencer who posted their wedding at Mar a Lago. I thought that was kind of wild, don't most PDs lean liberal?
is this people like Iya Agha?
LOL im glad you said this bc they really are so superficial and cringe. like all they do post is vids of them doing botox, how they live in miami, how you can still be smart and a girly girl or baddie in medicine (most cringe and demeaning to us women tbh bc men dont have to post stuff like this to gain traction on social media), and how they matched derm as DO's when people told them they cant. Like pls you go to one of the most notorious/least respected programs in the country...
I feel like they're vastly contribute to why the rest of medicine doesn't consider derm physicians. We vastly downplay how difficult derm really is
Yep pretty much. I think people in medicine understand how competitive derm is and how it is a challenging speciality but people outside of medicine genuinely think derm is only cosmetics. And most of the time they are very shocked to learn that is is one of the most competitive specialities.
Fr one of my surgery attendings told me I was "wasting my talents" applying to dermatology this year. He definitely understands how competitive dermatology is but straight up told me he does not really respect it as a field. I was so flabbergasted lmao
I'm going to guess performative liberalism aside from a few places, most people are probably not as liberal as you might think
very true, non-liberal opinions are just not stated publically
mar a lago crazy tho, PDs might be moderate but our current President is a diff story
mar a lago crazy tho, PDs might be moderate but our current President is a diff story Even without social media you get crazy free products. You dont need to become a cringe influencer.

I was so flabbergasted lmao < aaaand its because of the Larkin SM and PS type posts/influencers
you don't tho, the only ones you get are those u get from conferences/aveeno types. I want the cool trendy ones shipped to me
some of them started making videos recommending skin products before they even started derm and even now have only been in derm a few months and still know nothing
One of them posted something promoting heels that were over $1000 , wears a Rolex/ other extremely expensive items to work and is in general extremely out of touch with how the average person lives. Must be nice to have extremely rich parents buy your way in
that's exactly who lol> LOL im glad you said this bc they really are so superficial and cringe. like all they do post is vids of them doing botox, how they live in miami, how you can still be smart and a girly girl or baddie in medicine (most cringe and demeaning to us women tbh bc men dont have to post stuff like this to gain traction on social media), and how they matched derm as DO's when people told them they cant. Iya Agha's dad is an interventional radiologist or something like that. Ofc she's rich lol
yep! "here are my skincare recommendations as a derm resident!" and they are in their prelim year like be so fr right now
yeah and half of her published research is with her dad or people she knows from her dad lmao <- lmao thinking an IR is rich is actual clown sh*t go to med school in NYC and you will meet actual rich people
not sure what your definition of rich is but every IR at my hospital makes a minimum 600k annually which is a lot... pretty sure he also owns a private practice that she has posted tiktok videos outside of <- 20M net worth IMO

you'd be surprised at how many medical practices barely survive... not saying her dad is one of them, but things always look shinier from the outside in. W2's are attractive for many reasons
he literlaly owns a surgery/medical center https://iyamedical.com/ <- 20M net worth IMO
the agha medical center just started a medspa too... where do you think Iya is beelining too after she finishes her 3 year botox course at Larkin?

theres nothing like embarrassing yourself online daily for some free pdrn serums
Larkin SM and PS are pay to play. Even those who dont pay for thir spot outright you need to come from money to survive pay in the 40'sK range while living in one of the highest COL areas
genuinly how are these programs accredited lmao
40k is craazy
the concept of arguing over whether Iya agha's IR physician father is wealthy ..... touch grass
the concept of arguing over whether Iya agha's IR physician father is wealthy ..... touch grass... 600k is really not that much, bf works in tech and that's like a mid level software engineer
the concept of arguing on whether 600k is a lot of money with the state of this country....touch grass.... and 20M net worth to be considered wealthy? like stfu you're genuinely closer to being homeless than being worth 20m in your life <- any derm who works for 30 years could get to a 20M net worth actually could a person with a 600k income buy a house in the bay area? lol
no they couldnt actually could a person with a 600k income buy a house in the bay area? lol
oh ok sorry I didnt realize that affording a house in the bay area was what determined the value of 600k thank you for clarifying < ya I mean it do be kinda clownish to be calling someone wealthy when they cant buy a house lmao

tf? after a few years of working you can easily afford to buy a 1-2+ mil home with that salary. and majority people take out loans to purchase homes? you're out of touch and delusional LMAO
most medfluencers are so, so cringe, the derm ones are the worst. I can respect the hustle tho, if I successfully match next year, I lowkey want to make to game all the free skincare products
