Schools that make you do a presentation during interview day like Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Utah, Loma Linda, etc.. what is the purpose and what the presentation should be about? lol
Has anyone gotten an email from metrohealth of where and when to sent ppt?
I think we just share our screen and present from our computers

Anyone receive any further info for the Texas Tech interview on Thursday?
Sadly no intel too
so it says they allow for 30 interview slots but I heard that people who did an away there don't do a formal interview so does this mean there are way more people than the 30 being considered for the 3 spots?

Schools that make you do a presentation during interview day (feel free to add on): Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Utah, Loma Linda, Northwell, Florida, VCU, Stony Brook makes you send them a 1 minute presentation,
< the idea of doing a presentation on top of the interview day is such a huge turn off to me. Why add more work to an already stressful day.
stony brook is a 1 min video prior to interview day
I'm so stressed for mine
would hate a presentation. feels like they could assess similar things through interview convos and pls don't make me dance for you (although if i had to I would do it with a smile on my face don't get me wrong)
> Honestly I'd be happy with being able to do a presentation. Assuming the program doesn't require you to cover any specific subjects/topics, it really allows you to shine and talk about what you're passionate about. It lets candidates shine beyond their stats or # of research pubs, just as the interview does. I'm all for more of these non-stat driven opportunities to shine throughout the selection process

Has anyone gotten more info on their interview day for Texas tech? Last communication I got was my date confirmtion but no timeframe or anything else was provided
no :(
also no
anyone have any input or impressions post interview from here?
Does anyone who rotated at Texas Tech know when they reach out for the check in before rank? Since they don't interview away rotators
need a detailed aways tab
who said they didn't interview away rotators?, why would they do a check in before rank? The rotation counts as the interview, they just don't formally interview rotators. They said they would do a check in rather than a formal interview but wasn't sure when it will be
were you preERAS? Yes
the flip dell austin made from last year to this year wild with away interviews >> probably under reported
The part about UT Houston only interviewing aways needs to be fixed on the Away Tab, also someone put that Texas Tech was only interviewing away rotators and this is also not true

POOP
texas tech II is out
for those that emailed back for interview date preferences, did you hear back? Not sure if we will get confirmation or if we should call
i got a confirmation like 5 minutes after emailing (2)
Is there a Texas tech open house?
Any insight on why Texas Tech didn't take any home students this past cycle??? That seems so odd to me
because they don't get to pick and choose exactly who they get? it's an algorithm? their home students might have been tired of lubbock or may have all loved somewhere they rotated. it's not that deep
I'm not a Texas tech student, but my home program only matched one home student this past cycle. We all loved our home program but as a group, we were interested in aspects of derm that were not strengths of our home program. Just because a program doesn't keep a lot of home students doesn't mean it's bad. Y'all always want to have it both ways. If a program kept a bunch of home students, you'd say "don't apply it's low yield" or "they favor home students so heavily". Never forget that programs do not get to choose who matches there. Texas tech's last cohort of derm applicants could have just collectively had priorities that led them to train elsewhere and that's fine
Well I'm asking because they had at least 5 home students not match at all so it's just weird...
sometimes people are just not great applicants. Your home program owes you nothing (unfortunately). You are literally a random med student and it's not their responsibility to make sure you match. I am using the royal "you"here - this applies to everyone. They also could've been great applicants and are a reflection of the unfortunate nature of the process. Plenty of great applicants go unmatched every year . Maybe they werent great fits for their home program/had interests that could not be fostered at Texas tech. This process is crazy and unpredictable!
The thing that bothered me was Texas Tech matching someone who did not do an away.

Is the texas tech away worth it if no geographic connection? I just haven't heard much about it besides that people don't like the location lol
whats bad about the location?> its just small college town vibes, out in the middle of nowehere west texas very conservative etc.

it was actually really nice to have the chance to give a presentation. i just made it about where I grew up, hobbies, where I am now, etc
