I think it's worth pointing out that UCSF probably isnt even a good fit for 90+% of the spreadsheet. Yes it's a fantastic name with fantastic training, but it, like many other top programs, is totally geared toward churning out academic dermatologists who are professors and do research. If your passion is strictly clinical derm, and most especially if you're not particularly interested in an academic career (career, not job), then I honestly believe a smaller, less "brand-name" program is really what you're looking for. And at the end of the day, they still call the lady/gentleman that matched at their last choice program "dermatologist"

i agree. but just like with med school and with college before that, there will always be people who will never be happy unless they go to a brand name school. i know one of the applicants from penn this year, he/she is a total ivy league elitist. just an example.
