PGY-1, interviewed at several top programs last year including NYU, Mayo, and Northwestern. Not interested in Mohs, but I remember interviewing with Dr. Carucci and he was definitely not the warmest guy, but he seems charismatic. Mayo has 3 spots and almost always gladly take their own. Last2-3 years, 3/3 were Mayo; but for the last few years, they did not produce any academic dermatologists; Northwestern-Murad Alam seems arrogant and I have heard rumors that he does not care about residents and trainees (this one needs confirmation)
i heard mayo matched all outside residents this year and none of their residents that applied matched....idk if true or a rumor.
Having had a few interactions with Dr Alam, i wouldnt say he’s overtly arrogant. He is very direct but also has a sense of humor. Not sure how he compares with other mohs attendings in terms of how he treats his fellows though
