How angry would you be if your home program didn't match you?
I'd be disappointed of coure, but not really angry. I'm not owed a spot.
I would be EXTREMELY angry if I fell through my entire rank list and didn't match. I've known these people for many years, worked with them to get publications, letters of rec, advice, and to know that they ranked someone else they compared me to on paper and 3 hours is fucking unfathomable.
Umm... all of those things your mentioned were almost exclusively to help you so how do they OWE you anything?
On the flip side, this is for a job, not school. If a program is willing to pick someone who they have only met for 1 day, they may know that the familiar candidate is a bad fit for them. Neither party wants to be in that situation
Then just tell me to my face that I am not a good fit rather than guiding me through the process and writing me a LOR.
you'd rather that they dump you and tell you to fend for yourself?< a lot of programs have more applicants than they have spots and if they have at least 3 or 4 spots, they probably don't want to match only their own. So someone's not gonna be matched by their home program

what happened? x1 -- They don't interview about half of their home students
for a lot of people, their home program is top 20 in the country...
