Really striking how few white people were matched at the top programs this year (not a complaint, but it's VERY noticable...). I'm glad that programs are buying into SOC but worry about it being superficial/not nuanced tbh, just looking at the top programs that are especially virtue signal-y. < I strongly agree with this, and it's noticable that the same 5-10 URMs were at all the top interviews. < where was this take when harvard was taking mostly white people? was boston mostly white then? until last year, harvard embarassingly had the same black resident hosting diversity events with her horrendous internet but still had to be her as no one else to take her place. Do you think if we go back a few years to past spreadsheets, we will see this be a problem? even if harvard takes all black students for the next ten years, i would still not balance out. go somewhere else.

because the goal is to get the residency to be representative not any one class < Racial quotas please can we just do it already> white applicants make up like 55% of med grads, it's normal for them to take a larger percentage. Not taking any isn't the answer and neither is taking too many. There is a literal percentage you can look at here
YES..... like that harvard match list props to y'all but chile boston ain't 33% black (nobody come for me props to these people i'm sure they all deserve it) < yeah... theyve taken 2 white people in the last two years total < so is this only a problem for y'all with top schools? because tons of schools have no urm student at all but no one is pointing out how very white many derm programs still are < it's not just harvard, but it's a great example of what's happening now. while well intentioned, the "overcorrection" bias is really, really starkly obvious. Harvard Derm goes from having almost NO black residents to "taking 2 white people in the last two years." < good. they were excessively taking white people and no one said boo. maybe now they are at a point where that is sustainable as a program but it is like this for them compared to ucsf because they were very white/asian so of course it looks so stark
