I'd still apply broadly and to anywhere you're interested, some programs vary each year in how many URM are matched, it is an algorithm that makes the final match after all so you could very well have a shot << Yup, as a whole there are very few URM applicants in Derm in absolute number (compared to the entire applicant pool) so a place not matching one doesn't mean anything, since it also depends on applicant preferences too, who may want to live closer to home or in a more bustling city, etc. That being said, I agree, find out which ones have a paid stipend for aways for URM students as obviously it's something they'll look for when selecting for interviews, but more importantly, apply broadly. You don't get to be choosy when it comes to Derm, so outside of programs that say only recruit DO students (and you happen to be an MD student), apply to them all.

Yeah I think people can forget it is a two way applicant proposing algorithm when they look at resident classes, URMs are a very small number of the overall pool < WashU has half of their residents as black lol < Top programs can pretty much recruit/accept whoever they want, hence why I always laugh when top programs say they can't "find" enough URMs. Good for WashU for having black applicants for the mainly black population. << For several cycles since Ilana Rosman became PD she's made it her goal to recruit URM applicants and is VERY huge on DEI. I have to give her credit there. She doesn't just talk. She does it. Very different than how Wash U has traditionally recruited Derm applicants -- people from top tier schools w/top board scores and class rank, with many publications, and so the resident class was traditionally mainly white and Asian.
