I don't think any programs require different personal statements (at least when I applied). Some people changed their personal statements for programs they were really interested in or to clarify any ties to a geographic region that may not have been evident from the rest of their application. UTSW, Mayo, Indiana, and UMass had supplemental questions that were relatively short.

This Boston University 3 program is ridiculous. I applied there but part of my wants to withdraw rather than do their supplemental essay. Thoughts?
Would you rather potentially A) not match or B) match at BU. IMO, if you already did all the work for the app you might as well just leave it and decline their interview invite if things are going well at that point.

It's not required to do the supplement so no need to withdraw. They just favor people that do complete it

anyone know what exactly "faculty position" means? It seems like it could mean so many things

junior faculty basically... "faculty in residence" status
does anyone know if the 3 program at BU is optional? It seems to be the default path for all residents but has anyone heard of someone being able to get out of it?
Did anyone interview at BU? I personally didn’t but I’m curious what the vibe was ... feels like it would be malignant with the 3 but I hate to judge superficially
So I really loved BU and want to rank it highly.... but am I really missing something with the 3 and all those old sdn posts and whatever. Residents didn't seem bothered by it and it doesnt seem like its required for everyone (i think they said only 2/5 were taking a position this past year)
