Anyone with BU offer willing to switch for September block
BU sucks

Boston, MA
Sentiment score: 2.8 / 10
Applicants express significant concerns about Boston University's dermatology program, particularly regarding its controversial 6-year track structure with a 3-year faculty contract component, excessive supplemental essay requirements, and allegations of program leadership manipulating online feedback and deleting negative comments. While some recent rotators defend the current leadership and residents as supportive, the overwhelming sentiment reflects skepticism about the program's transparency, concerns about post-residency obligations, and frustration with the application process.
✅1. I rotated here and honestly this was my favorite away – great culture, very nice PD/APD and faculty, and great vibes with the residents who were inviting and very happy overall. Well-rounded training with good mix of subspecialty clinics (rheum derm, cutaneous onc, peds, etc.), and this was echoed by the residents. They do very well in the fellowship match with the last 3 Mohs matches being at Harvard, UCSD, and UCLA. Dermpath was a weakness but I heard they were revamping and just got a heavy hitting new dermpath faculty there + other new faculty. Amazing location being in Boston, and also you get close interaction with the other Boston programs which is nice. I was initially concerned about the accreditation warning people were talking about, but it looks like in the newest ACGME data from 2026 they're fully accredited.
✅2. Echoing what was said above ^ Such a kind place and was my favorite away. I would be so happy to train here. Such a good group of people. Very well rounded program

Does BU have academic half days?
or any other info about BU curriculum?
ignore the benefits of an academic career, whats the pro of going to a t10 derm?
probably nothing
honestly probably not much beyond geographical boost if you'd like to stay locally as a private derm
layman prestige + MAYBE better training
Better training for esoteric
If you go to Harvard over say BU or Tufts, would your training be better / would your life be that different? > I hear harvard has more inpatient maybe that may be different. HA. In all seriousness, no. As an adult, the largest impact on your education is YOU. A program may be better or worse for your priorities, but in all honesty, it likely will not make a measurable difference. If your priority is prestige and academics, Harvard may be better. However, there is no objective answer here. I know people wish there were given how many times this is asked. Put your personal priorities first. There are as many different careers as there are dermatologists.

Whats going on with the Boston University comment about accredidation/cheating scandal?
proof?
so this whole time they're just under accreditation warning cause the residents cheated.. wtf?>> THey took someone I know that was the most idiotic person in medicine clinically but somehow had the highest step2 score of people I've known, i wouldn't be suprised if he paid a testing facility in their home country so they could cheat
is this somethign that happened recently?
their accredidation status is normal now fyi
where do you see that
pretty sure this cheating scandal was a different program + 4
lmao this is sinai not BU

can someone interviewing at BU take one for the team and ask about the accreditation warning lol have been wondering for years on this spreadsheet
PLS
I heard that there was an issue with faculty retention and something about asking interviewees to sign a contract that they would stay on as an attending but then residents turning back on the contract. I'm sure its a great program and I don't mean to stir anything, but I think it is worth considering.
what the heck.. they did this at interviews????
I interviewed last cycle and never heard of this
I interviewed last cycle and never heard of this
do accreditation warnings even mean anything? how does that impact the residents?
WHY DOES BU HAVE A WARNING
Did BU offer any PM interviews on Jan 28th? doesn't show up on thalamaus but just wanted to double check
no they didn't
Someone keeps deleting this, but does any BU home student/resident know why they have a new accreditation warning?
I also want to know this.
which program also cheated on their ABD boards earlier this year?
How many interviews did Boston university send?
multiple
big if true>75
Residency explorer says around 50
iirc it was somewhere between 40-50 when i was signing up on thalamus
someone reported 37 on the II tab
37 II for 5 seats is pretty good odds
I think it was closer to 50 when I signed up the second it opened
BU says to send silver signal for away rotators, so why are people sending golds on the away and no II tab
where did they say that
BU is not the same as BUMC
POOP
