Will derm interview invites be offered on Thursday 11/7/19 following a silent Wednesday (1 derm rejection)? Yes: 2 No: 0 Programs: WashU (regular), Stanford, Minnesota Actual: Recap of Wednesday 11/6/19 Invites: 0 Rejections: 1 (U of Rochester) TY/Prelim released today (2): U Pitt (Prelim and TY), Brockton (TY) Derm interviews released since Monday (12 first time offers, 1 research track, 1 second wave): U New Mexico, U Arkansas, Oklahoma, Eastern Virginia, Howard, NYU, Mississippi, Medical College of Wisconsin, Georgetown, Wash U (Research), Henry Ford, George Washington, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and Cooper (2nd wave) TY/Prelim released this week: UVA (Prelim), U Pitt (Prelim and TY) and Brockton (TY) As of 8:40 EST: 63% of derm programs have not sent out interviews and a sum total of ~171/447 (38%) derm spots have been offered interviews. What's the point? IT IS EARLY and the overwhelming majority of spots have not been offered interviews yet AND even the ones that have been offered may not have offered for all their spots. On this equivalent day (i.e. first Wednesday of the month) last year: 1 interview went out (George Washington University, which came out yesterday for us). On tomorrow’s equivalent day (i.e. first Thursday of November) last years: 6 derm interviews went out and 1 med/derm interview! (Wayne State, U Minnesota, Dartmouth, Columbia, Virginia Tech, Southern Illinois and Washington MedDerm) Looking ahead: This week last year was a busy week for interviews with 16 being released in total! Goodnight everyone! -SD

<< This is a long post with some relevant data in addition to your predictions. Hope you all find this useful and have a goodnight! -SD << You're #1 in my heart. Thanks SD <3 x7 <<< SheetDaddy fan here, but I think if the posts were smaller, more morsels/highlights, like the first program prediction/tally template - we'd probably get most people on board. On mobile a post like this to the left takes up entire screen

<-- Download the "Calm" App. << why? << because this is neurotic! << Chill out bro, don't read it if you don't like it instead of being negative. Maybe you should spend your time using the "calm" app instead of being up everyones ass x6 << this actually is pretty neurotic, and I don't think saying something is neurotic should invite such a volatile response. Like damn this whole SD shit is becoming cult-like and stupid.

also very classy rejection letter, tho I wonder what they were looking for << what did it say? << We had nearly 500 applications for 2 residency positions. It was very hard to choose. You have worked so hard and accomplished so much. I only wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. << AWWW EVMS x2

Would anyone with an Eastern VA (EVMS) interview on November 30th be willing to switch with my date on December 7th? I would be so eternally grateful! My away rotation interview is currently scheduled for the same day :/ My number is 774-549-0722.

Is 3 derm LoR enough? Why is everyone submitting 4?

#9142017-2018 DermMar 23

Do some programs require 4? If so, which?

Mar 23

I am wondering this too. I have 3 derm letters but no other letters (besides my chair letter for prelim medicine programs). Is that not enough?

Mar 23

Most probably have 3 Derm letters. Maybe an IM/Peds/Surgery letter for a prelim/TY. You're fine.

EVMS and VCU require 4

Anyone have any thoughts on submitting non-derm LOR to derm programs? I know some prefer only derm, but which prefer 1 non-derm? x1

#8542017-2018 DermMar 23

Last year, I sent 3 Derm letters, and 1 non-Derm letter and matched. You're fine.

Mar 23

Thanks. I have >4 derm letters, but I also have a great non-derm letter. I was just hoping people could shed some light on which programs would prefer all 4 derm and which prefer 3 derm + 1 non-derm. Complicated, I know. Thoughts?

Mar 23

So aren't you limited to 4 letters total you can send to any one program? You could check individual derm program websites to see if any one of them require a 3 combo, but I imagine they're not many that explicitly require that vs. all 4 derm letters. I would use the 3 combo for the internships you're applying to though.

Mar 23

I thought 3 total letters was sufficient for basically all programs? Anywhere require 4?

Mar 23

I don't think any programs required 4.| Eastern Virginia requires 4, also helps if you have ovaries

went to go check and saw that they only had 1 male resident. but more importantly, do they only have 1 faculty member? looks like they rely heavily on community dermatologists
