Did anyone else get the email from honorhealth saying they're starting to review apps? Didn't they release on the second release day last cycle lol
This should go without saying but if you notice that a program has mainly, if not all, DO Derm residents, don't waste your money as an allopathic MD student in ERAS fees for those programs. The merger doesn't mean anything in terms of equal consideration of your application.
Does this 50/50 lecture & clinic based derm elective count as rotating through your home derm program, or no?
technically you do rotate but half the rotation is didactics and assignments, after July we're able to sign up for our formal home rotations though < I would just prepare well in advance for your away rotation for July and then do your home program rotation the next month.
Thank you !
< lmao i got invited to both DO places and harvard/stanford e.t.c < what are the "both DO" places you are referring to.
who got into honor health??? < there is a reason this is being kept a secret, stop asking< does honor health prefer DOs over MDs? i saw that most of their residents are DOs
before the merger, Honor Helath was an AOA, or DO program. Last year, honor health separated from the faculty who were largely DOs and have a completely new faculty who are largely MD. No one knows what the future holds, but my guess is that they take a mix of both moving forward. <wouldnt this mean there's a large pool of people applying to honorhealth, bothMD and DOs?? so slimmer chances
HH accepted 2 MD's this year. Congrats MD students. RIP DO's.
Good to know for future DO applicants for the HonorHealth Derm program in Arizona that it's pretty much become an allopathic Derm program now. < Nearly all the Derm residency faculty there were with Affiliated Dermatology and had a dual role with Honor Health. I don't know why that suddenly changed where entirely new people were brought on.
After <15m interview w/ 10+ (half without video) interviewers, I am shocked by how poorly this interview was conducted by Honor Health today. Did anyone else feel this way?
Honorhealth Rejection WOOP x 9
Honor Health II x4
what did people think of the Honor Health meet and greet yesterday?
is it actually worth going to this HonorHealth meet and greet today? Don't know if I have it in me
Did anyone else get a WedEx invite last week for a resident meet & greet on the 23rd of November at Honor Health, AZ?
did anyone else just get the honorhealth webex meeting invite > yes x6 > yes what does it mean though? its not an invitation to interview right? just to get to know the program? > that's what I'm taking it as but definitely confused too
Yo, PCOM WTF > what happened? > looks like they listed their program incorrecty on ERAS and will only be accepting those that have already completed their intern year. Another $26 down the drain after the Honor Health bullshit several days ago.<why do they even have the physicain only option vs. advanced if the program doesn't even accept non-physicians???
Request for update about the Honor Health ERAS message once someone hears back from the program coordinator about that wonky ass email.
Can Mods add HonorHealth to the Away Impressions tab? thanks
Post merger can Mods add ALL the osteopathic programs to ALL of the tabs? Or at least unlock the pages to allow someone else to do it. It's silly that some of the programs are included on some of the tabs.
^so dress shirt, khakis, no tie? blazer?
dress shirt or sweater with khakis seem commonplace x2
no blazer
Cutaneous Colleagues, we are now at the halfway point for both first time interview offers and number of derm spots offered. I have updated my sheet. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. -SD
thank you!
we're at the halfway point, so i'd say about half as many as you think you need... so maybe 3-4? (I only have 1 so *shrug*). Still at 0 here .
I agree that 3-4 would be good though I do not have that many either so many of us are in the same low/no interview boat
Thanks SD. For your recent post, Vandy/TJ have went out this week. Also, HealthPartners has a Jan interview date for those of us starting 7/2021. << When did healthpartners release? I thought only honorhealth
So...do we start panicking now? << I had the same question and my PD just told me "not yet" but I am losing faith in the system << I have 0-1 invites (internal and 1 local, but it's a soft invite imho) so I am really going to start panicking <<I have the same. When you start panicking what will that change? (not a philosophical question, but actually haha) Most faculty still want to wait a few weeks before they start making calls bc that is the normal timeline
what's an ok/good number to have at this stage? Probably around 5-10 range is average
seriously?
not true
prob more like 4-6
shits
Some posts are shown because their comments mention this program.
as a recently matched DO resident, I can say this is largely true. Most DO programs won't take MD candidates. Maybe this will change in the future, but not true now. May also not be true if you have a strong tie to the program. Also, many DO programs are now run by MD PDs and May start taking more MDs, such as Honor Health, LVHN, St. Joe's, etc. For a list of these "DO" programs, see this spreadsheet: Formerly AOA Dermatology Residencies: Audition Rotation Guide
