Hi folks! My name is YJ Kim; I've met some of you on the interview trail. For those of you who didn't match, I am so sorry. I wanted to plug in this research position for my amazing research mentor, Dr. Kavita Sarin, who is looking for an experienced clinical research coordinator to help run trials in skin cancer and medical dermatology. Send CV to Ksarin@stanford.edu. I have nothing but great things to say about her!

Per Match List tab, does Harvard really have 11 spots (10 + 1 med/derm)??? And Stanford only 6?
it's derm. i've made peace with going anywhere on my list

< same :( / same as well, everyone loves the same 15 to 20 programs :( there goes my match to somewhere I care about
Mar 23

on the opposite end, looking at the list stressed me out because places I ranked high others didn't and places I ranked low others ranked high. Makes me wonder if I messed up my ROL x2

Its not really a surprise that people are ranking places like Harvard, Penn, Stanford, UCSF, etc. highly...
Mar 23

mrw no one is ranking my #1 as #1 or #2, which means i might match there and i would be very happy :))

Ugh omg can we please be adults and not randomly add 100 on the rank list tab
I know at least 104 other friends that ranked KCUMB-GME Consortium #1 with me / y'all are the worst sometimes // thank you to whoever fixed it

< someone deleted the #1 ranks for UCSF. What was it last? <I think it was the same as Stanford, so I made it 5

Yeah can we please stop being so uncool now that ranks are in and any of your motivations to be a troll are gone! honestly, it's probably not us. more likely to be the program itself...<why would they even care, I'm sure they have more important things to do
Mar 23

um, we live for this juicy shit too
Mar 23

LOL @ a program being petty enough to come in and change it to 100 ppl ranked it 1
Mar 23

not that one
Mar 23

<hilarious how there are 20 more 1st ranks than 2nd and 3rd. I guess its all those people that only got one interview and it happened to be Stanfrod, Harvard or another top program. smh. I'm losing faith in my future colleagues...
Mar 23
0
I highly doubt that. People are probably just not filling in their top 2 and 3 bc they're mostly concerned with getting their number 1. I initially only filled out 1 and 2 out of laziness. Not sure if your comment was a joke or not... but most of those people have more than 3 interviews. <it was sarcasm

Fill out the rank sheet properly. How can there be an unequal number of #1, #2 and #3? -- Trolls
i guess fuck anyone who doesn't have 3 interviews lol
Mar 23

good point. that was insensitive
Mar 23

rank #3 > rank #2 still doesn't make sense though also lmfao at the predominance of respondents ranked ivies first, so there's obviously a bias here

LOL

unequal number, because people adding to it. Stanford just jumped 4 up in like 15 minutes // ha, Harvard just did it in short period too, smh

I didn't get any RTM / post communication. Can we be honst with eachother? Did people get RTM calls and if so from where? Trying to manage my expectations here.
Very competitive applicant with a lot of interviews: I got 0 RTM calls or emails << Interviewed at 14 got 1 email<<also very competitive applicant with 4/5 top interviews and 25+ interview offers and 0 RTM calls or emails as well, though a few "hints" from my home program when talking to the PD there. << my friend got 2 RTM calls
Mar 23

I also had over 25 interview offers and not RTM. I think only 1-2 places did it this year and who knows how many they gave.

Hey sorry long time since visiting spreadsheet. Did any programs send out RTM calls this year?
Seems like the best of both worlds. Incredible program and training and as far as reputation goes, it is very high up there. Cornell is an Ivy League name which is super reputable. Is it Harvard or Stanford, no, but I'd argue it's only the next tier down as far as prestige goes

<I don't have an answer but dont forget reputation is an extrinsic measure that doesn't tell you much. It is also highly contentious as this sheet has shown over the past months. Clinics, patient population, speciality exposure, fellowship match, research can all be considered individually according to what matters to you. If rep matters though you can factor that in, but again it is super contentious, mostly research based, and seems made up half the time (aka loudest ppl on google sheet determine the accepted rep)
sounds suspect to me if there was only 1 person. Wonder what these ppl get out of doing fake RTM? maybe they think the rest of us will rank these places lower?
Mar 23

Unfortunately its near impossible to interpret RTM calls on this spreadsheet
Mar 23
0
even when it says x2 or x3 it could be a random fake post from 1 person

Exactly

Yale might not do R2M but they are known to make it very clear that they want you so if there's been no correspondence, that's definitely a sign - also Stanford and Penn has indeed sent out calls
Mar 23
0
Yale won't get everyone they want, so don't worry if there is no correspondence from any of these programs
Mar 23
0
If a place has sent out RTM calls and you didn't get one... would it be unusual for you to still match there? x2 << not impossible, but your chances are much lower
Mar 23
0
<Not really. The applicants who are getting r2m calls at these locations are getting r2m calls from all the others that do them as well, and everyone can only go to one program.

Which programs sent out RTM calls already? Too many to count now... Please tell me the NYU one isn't real

Reposting (deleted on error): Can people comment on why most say UCSD > UCLA? My understanding is UCLA has more specialty clinics and arguably a more diverse patient population. UCSD is no doubt a growing and strong basic science research department, but clinically is it any better?
Most rankings are based on research output is my understanding

faculty turn over at ucla is an issue -- regardless still one of the best programs in the country. Both are powerhouse programs
Mar 23

really? Both powerhouses?
Mar 23

people on this sheet throw around "one of the best in the country" and "powerhouse" and the phrase "hands down" like its candy on Halloween x2; "powerhouse? powerhouse? we got UCSF and Stanford crushing it on the west coast, and about 20 stronger programs than UCSD and UCLA, and ya'll want to talk about powerhouse?"
