Really surprised that University of Missouri-Kansas City's derm program (new one that entered the match this year), didn't take any home students.

I think their students match well though so could just be they wanted to go elsewhere but you're right

Can someone give me some thoughts and persepctive on Mizzou vs Kansas

#30692025–2026 DermFeb 24

Unlike Mizzou, Kansas mostly takes Mizzou people. If you are a Mizzou, you should rank Kansas over Mizzou

is kansas a better program than mizzou?

Why does nobody ever give a real answer about Kansas?

Mizzou and Kansas seem to have similar vibes, but Kansas City is a better location

Can we make a list in the cell to the right of places whose derm interview automatically counts as your interview for a prelim/TY year too?

#28292025–2026 DermFeb 21

Penn State, Northwestern, Yale (kind of), Georgetown, Ohio State, Brown, Cleveland Clinic, UPMC, UTHSC (tennessee), Zucker/Northwell, Emory, Mizzou, WVU, Dartmouth

Penn state does??

yes Penn state does, presented to us on interview day

Feb 21

what about northwestern regular Derm/peds derm> NW med derm counts for advanced derm NW position + med derm position. NOT prelim. You can ask to be considered for categorical IM, but that was not guaranteed by just applying.

Exact wording: "We are very excited to welcome you to the Northwestern University combined Medicine-Dermatology interviews, which also serves as interviews for either the categorical Medicine and/or advanced Dermatology tracks, if you have applied to either of those Northwestern programs. "

have programs already decided their rank list or does it change during February? Wondering if it's program dependent or what's the most common practice... Do some programs just submit on Feb 2 and don't look at it again?>i've heard most programs rank after the last interview

#27542025–2026 DermFeb 21

is this also the case for programs that finish interviewing early on (nov/dec)?

Feb 21

Yes most programs finalize their rank lists the same day as the final interview

Does anyone have any insight on what the program at Mizzou is like? everyone there seemed super nice so was just wondering!

#25412025–2026 DermFeb 21

Rotated there - some of the friendliest and most down-to-earth faculty and residents I've ever worked with. Lots of peds derm on the faculty, very welll-rounded curriculum IMO. Columbia is very college town-y so that could be a plus or minus depending on where you are at in life

Feb 21

Very kind faculty who want to teach. They will be having residents go to a smaller town 30 min away starting next year but could be a positive if you like that

Can we do a tally of how many ppl are deciding to gold vs silver their aways? Gold: Silver:

#7972025–2026 DermFeb 21

This will be pointless as different programs have different rules on signaling as an away rotator (no signal vs gold vs silver).

Is UMKC only taking rotators? < no, but will likely show preference since they know them better, like any residency program

UMKC brand new program, are they only interviewing away rotators and nobody else (I saw this on another tab of this spreadsheet)? < they probably are looking more heavily at rotators but if this is a program that makes sense for you shoot your shot
