Sentiment score: 5.2 / 10

Applicants express significant confusion and frustration about the University of Kansas dermatology program's interview timeline and communication, with repeated questions about when invitations will be released and interview dates. While some applicants praise the program as relaxed and chill with good work-life balance, there is notable concern about the program's selectivity, interview outcomes, and comparison to peer programs like Mizzou. The program appears to have a reputation for being somewhat opaque in its processes and communication with applicants.

Fame & Shame

2025–2026 Derm

1 entry

1. Incredibly well-prepared for its first cycle. Attendings were amazing, rest of staff were amazing, genuinely invested in mentoring students. Rotators got opportunities to get exposure in all aspects of dermatology. Work at a safety-net hospital, so great for those who want to work with an underserved population and not just bread-and-butter derm. Plenty of research options for those interested too.

Really surprised that University of Missouri-Kansas City's derm program (new one that entered the match this year), didn't take any home students.

I think their students match well though so could just be they wanted to go elsewhere but you're right

Can someone give me some thoughts and persepctive on Mizzou vs Kansas

#30692025–2026 DermFeb 24

Unlike Mizzou, Kansas mostly takes Mizzou people. If you are a Mizzou, you should rank Kansas over Mizzou

Mizzou and Kansas seem to have similar vibes, but Kansas City is a better location

Can't believe how many of you were simping Kansas. What a shitshow of a program with the most awkward interviewers I've ever met. One of them legit came across as a sociopath. < lol so i wasnt the only one? < did one of them trash people go into sub specialties of derm? < 100% holy FUCK < they're a fucking mess < sadly not the worst interview i've had..... < wow, can't imagine worse < 🙃< why was your worst the worst? < they straight up asked questions that were not allowed and were aggressive, basically the whole interview was this one on steroids < someone deleted comment saying I'm trying to prevent people from ranking this program. wrong- this is just my experience and you should do what's right for u. < Had my Kansas interview a couple weeks ago and all the interviewers were definitely autistic. Glad they're all collected in one spot so I can avoid them
