Last year there were 5 seats for SOAP but the match ended with 4 unfilled seats. Seems wild that programs didn't fill seats during the SOAP. Anyone know details about this?
One was the research spot at Colorado, one was in PR, idk about the rest
there was no actual seats open in soap. there was 1 colorado spot that they intentionally left unfilled for an internal to take and 3 spots from the puerto rico program

none (not even the "low tier"/"niche" ones like University of Puerto Rico/St. Barnabas/St. Johns) etc. It never happens in derm. The only program that has a special "early" communication to an applicant regarding acceptance is University of Mississippi's Rural Track which the one applicant will hear back MONTHS before everyone else. That one spot is done outside of the match.

As a home student, I find it VERY hard to believe the UConn APD would call someone saying they're RTM.

What MD programs do out of match offers?
Applied last year with a similar question... none that I know of personally out of all the MD programs. Its a match violation. Not even the "niche" programs like the two in Puerto Rico match outside the match (however they take 99% from PR with the exception of one student from Tufts last year). The one DO program that matches outside the match pretty consistently is St. John's Episcopal (3 residents per year). I wouldn't be surprised if other programs with 1 resident per year didn't already know who they were going to take prior to the cycle though, effectively providing an "outside the match hunch" to the applicant.
I remember there was someone at Sinai who was offered an out of match offer in February (this was back in 2022 i believe) and did not take it at insistence of Sinai's home department. I'm not sure if this story is true or not. I would imagine though that if a program did give someone an out of match offer, and the program would then withdraw from the match for that year. That would not make it a match violation, right?

Of note Tulane does offer a research fellowship every 2 years starting after completion of an ACGME recognized TY/internship in Medicine or Surgery. It is reserved for 1 individual under Dr. Boh (the chair of the department). When you sign up it is with the understanding you are guaranteed into their program after two years of grinding papers. this year I think was UCSF, case western, midwestern, UTMB, puerto rico, larkin, pcom georgia, temple, mcg, utah - half of those came out halfway through the cycle
The ones from the start of the cycle: Lark S Miami (not real, reserved for the unpaid research fellow), Case Western, Midwestern, DCC-Flint, UTMB, PR, PCOM, Georgia. Later ones that came out but from the grapevines they only interviewed people that had already signaled earlier in the cycle and/or were reserved for internal as there wasn't any mention of new reapplicants that hadn't originally signaled getting IIs: UCSF, Temple, MCG, NYMC, Wayne State, Utah

Does anyone know more about University of Puerto Rico's Program? I interviewed there and really liked my experience during that time, but it was a pretty short interview.
Besides Yale, KU, Cincinnati, and Puerto Rico, are there any programs that are expected to send non-trickle invites?

They post the data but do not disclose which programs. I believe there was 1 A, 1 R and 3 C seats. In the end, only the 1 A seat was filled
