ACGME

Sentiment score: 1.5 / 10

Larkin Community Hospital is widely regarded as a low-tier dermatology program with significant concerns about pay-to-play admissions practices, unusually low resident salaries ($40k/year), and a requirement to rotate at the program before receiving interview invitations. Applicants express frustration about the program's opaque interview process, frequent unfilled SOAP spots, and allegations of predetermined matches and credential manipulation.

#35802025–2026 DermApr 1

I think cornell is like the only one

Cornell does not match every research fellow

cornell barely matches 1 fellow, if any, per year (correct me if im wrong)

is there a list somewhere?

I don't think anything or anyone can guarantee you a match

Apr 1

pretty much none? imo if an institution matches back a good amount of their RY students I would take that as a positive

larkin palm springs research year with Dr. Skopit guarantees match

Did anyone ever end up getting a hold of PCOM this cycle? It seems like they changed their name to a Larkin on ERAS/NRMP? I was offered a rotation after the first informal interview but then could never get a hold of anyone in the program, despite them being very nice on the interview.

#29582025–2026 DermFeb 21

why would they invite them back for a second away? At some point it falls on the program too. >> Lmao or basic iq to not reapply for an away

What is actual tea on Larkin vs rumor < just in general both are not considered good programs. South Miami is defintiely the one people say stay away from one. Had at elast 4 residents and even 2 attendings tell me to stay away from there over the years >> Larkin South Miami is confirmed pay 2 play they matched a girl this cycle that failed step 2 and decided derm 1 month before ERAS < curious how much ppl pay for that, and how the convo even comes up, and how there is no repremand << dont be shy, who was it

#10502025–2026 DermFeb 21

100% can confirm at least 1 resident at Miami Larkin bought their spot

Is it still the case that larkin will only interview you if you rotated with them

#9802025–2026 DermFeb 21

yes it says so specifically on their website too "Our program accepts applications through ERAS but are required to attend an audition rotation to be considered for a position. Our program does not take ERAS ‘signaling’ into account."

Feb 21

Do we know what programs are not participating in signaling?

#5592025–2026 DermFeb 21

once eras opens you'll easily be able to see. U can just scroll thru and see which ones aren't participating

Feb 21

Larkin miami but you must have done a rotation there to be considered per website

Idk if anyone wlse feels this way but I see so many people on TikTok and IG giving advice like how to study for classes, how ot study for boards, how to be a good rotator/med student and I want RECEIPTS. Like before I listen to this advice I wanna see if you did well in school, I wanna see if you were a good med student/rotator, I wanna know tht board score.

#5452025–2026 DermFeb 21

FACTS.

Feb 21

Sadly most of the tiktokers probably didn't actually do well in med school...and guessing by looking at some of these derm tiktoker accounts, probably weren't the best med student rotators, so I would hesitate before taking all of your advice from them. Top residency programs also don't like to see these people on IG/TikTok trying to be derm residents

idk i think it depends on what type of content it is, plenty of residents at "top" programs are/were active on social media.

Feb 21
0

alot of them are at low level programs (larkin) and only after applying twice or three times so also keep that in mind.

Feb 21
0

just because someone is a reapplicant does not mean they weren't a good student

#3792025–2026 DermFeb 21

you still become a board certified dermatologist at the end of the day... just nt known for giving the best trianing and the south miami director is sketch

Does larkin have good training? I'm tryna be a community dermatologist. And would me coming from a T20 be a deterrant?

#3712025–2026 DermFeb 21

reapplicant here:( how can i see what programs had R spots available this past cycle? also does that change every year?>> Yup changes every year, there was approximately 7 or 8 when I submitted ERAS and maybe 4-6 that came out from start to end of cycle

#33492025–2026 DermMar 17

this year I think was UCSF, case western, midwestern, UTMB, puerto rico, larkin, pcom georgia, temple, mcg, utah - half of those came out halfway through the cycle

Mar 17

The ones from the start of the cycle: Lark S Miami (not real, reserved for the unpaid research fellow), Case Western, Midwestern, DCC-Flint, UTMB, PR, PCOM, Georgia. Later ones that came out but from the grapevines they only interviewed people that had already signaled earlier in the cycle and/or were reserved for internal as there wasn't any mention of new reapplicants that hadn't originally signaled getting IIs: UCSF, Temple, MCG, NYMC, Wayne State, Utah

So as of 12/10, NYMC, Larkin, plus all the other programs listed above have STILL not sent out interview invites, correct? >> To my understanding, yes

Why is Larkin considered the worst derm program?

#15292024-2025 DermMar 16

Some posts are shown because their comments mention this program.
