Anonymous posters frequently discussed interview logistics, including waitlist movement, trickle invites, and diversity-track invitations that some found unclear or unlabeled. Several posts also mentioned advisors reportedly recommending multiple away rotations, and some noted rejections were sent only for categorical positions.

Fame & Shame

2025–2026 Derm

1. Really enjoyed my away rotation here and would highly recommend for future applicants. Faculty are predominantly women and are all really nice and there's a diverse array of subspecialty clinics. Durham is lovely with lots to do. Everyone in the department was very welcoming and nice.

1. The chair situation reflects a much greater funding issue occurring in the department. There is a lot of discontent.

2. Residents have to travel between sites in the middle of the day. Mohs exposure is not very good, residents complained about it during my rotation

This kept getting deleted, but I figured out how to lock the cell. Can anyone who has rotated at/ is familiar with Duke talk about the overall experience/ vibes of the program? Thanks

quick question for the programs that have a community engagement track like UPenn or Duke -- are interviews offered for either reg track vs special tracks or a standard interview for program in general? <Duke said if you apply for multiple tracts, you will be considered for all of them during the time of your interview. There isnt a seperate interview IIRC from the DEI zoom session

Anyone else feel like med school is too long? Like it should be 3 years or at least go with the Duke model where you have a year of freedom to do research or an extra degree < Med school could very easily be 2-2.5 years.. 1 year pre clinicals, half year clerkships (yes it can be done this quickly- it was for me because of covid), half year "4th year" but then it would be difficult for people to figure out what specialty

how are people thinking about cost of living? so hard to decide where to rank places like SF especially with a kid vs cheap places like Mayo/WUSTL/Duke

just realized that only four of the top 20 programs have released invites (emory, yale, UTSW, northwestern)... 11/29 is the big day < I mean also Pitt, UNC, Duke, Cornell, Minnesota < are you implying all these are T20? < all very strong programs but not top 20 if we're going off of doximity.. which is flawed but yeah < what are you judging their strength based on? < doximity does it mainly based on research and reputation I think, not sure how to evaluate a program otherwise... maybe we should come up with a rubric for quality and breadth of training?

speaking on diversity, which programs are the most "diverse" or really value diversity? < ucsf, nyu, gwu, and duke have really stood out. < howard is trying to take more non urm residents according to their chair as the demographics of dc changes
