Is this year truly more competitive in terms of aways? Or is this the same every year?

i am sorry OP, at this point I would apply to everything (even if not ideal city or location) especially if they havent released, i would also apply to two week rotations and even think out of the box like orange park just opened theres on Clincian nexus, (look at the DO thread, Orange park is open and requires a step 2 score to apply and so if you test earlier than other applicants you could get a rotation purely by being early to submit) express interest (& email) places that far fewer people traditionally want to live at (ex: flint MI, mississippi, geisinger) these are wonderful programs but not everyone wants to live in these locations so i think sometimes they get fewer influx. also some of these people trying to switch away rotations might have commited to two rotations at the same time (hence, why they are trying to switch) you can try and snag a position this way if someone drops, maybe text them see if they are going to drop it and email the PC with interest make sure you have an app submitted. Where did you do your research year? does your ry mentor have any connections at insutitions they could reach out to ? half of the game is playing smart bc everyone is a good applicant

I dont know that, im asking here, they said they would send out by 11/22 so im curious as to whether they came out already and the II are done for them

if we have an audition here do they send interviews to everyone all at once? I thought your audition counted as interview ? Confused how this works < I think its just an email sent to all applicants as a "dont worry about the silence we are still working on things" email. Probably meant mostly for nonrotators and just got sent to everyone.

US-MD PGY-1 here, it gets tricky. A lot of DO-specific programs will naturally overlook you as an MD, let alone a Top20 US-MD candidate. Unless you have a.) away-rotated there or b.) have an INSANE connection there, I would not risk wasting a signal on a DO-heavy program in 2025. Alot of these DO-heavy programs will "protect" spots for DOs to preserve their presence in the field (and rightfully so given the competetive nature of the application process). Programs that come to mind are Orange Park and Hackensack - these programs take a massive majority DO with the occasional MD every other/few years. I'm willing to bet that MD had an incredibly impressive away-rotation there or a close mentor who knew the PD vouched heavily for the student.

< have spoken with the most recently matched MD at Orange Park and they confirmed they indeed do an away rotation. If there is a DO-friendly program you are serioualy interested in, you should do an away there to show you're seerious.

Orange park is mostly DO but they interviewed MDs last year! Might've just worked out that way < from their instagram looks like they have MDs in every class except the most recent one they took only DOs! < They consider and take MDs too. My mentor (MD) interviewed here last year and really liked it.
