Sentiment score: 5.5 / 10
Applicants discuss Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), a DO program in Pennsylvania with 2 spots, noting interview invite logistics including potential spam folder issues and timing around late November. There is mixed sentiment about the program being DO-only, though some acknowledge it may increasingly accept MD candidates under new MD leadership.

did LVHN send invites to any MDs?
did not get one :(, miss you, silver signal.

The DO chat says LVHN is out by email.
Anyone on this side hear from them?
has anyone heard back from KCU-GMEX in orlando or lehigh in PA?
haven't released yet
did anyone else get a tuesday topic thing from Lehigh despite no II >> yes but it seemed nothing related to dermatology
This should go without saying but if you notice that a program has mainly, if not all, DO Derm residents, don't waste your money as an allopathic MD student in ERAS fees for those programs. The merger doesn't mean anything in terms of equal consideration of your application.
as a recently matched DO resident, I can say this is largely true. Most DO programs won't take MD candidates. Maybe this will change in the future, but not true now. May also not be true if you have a strong tie to the program. Also, many DO programs are now run by MD PDs and May start taking more MDs, such as Honor Health, LVHN, St. Joe's, etc. For a list of these "DO" programs, see this spreadsheet: Formerly AOA Dermatology Residencies: Audition Rotation Guide
Does this 50/50 lecture & clinic based derm elective count as rotating through your home derm program, or no?
technically you do rotate but half the rotation is didactics and assignments, after July we're able to sign up for our formal home rotations though < I would just prepare well in advance for your away rotation for July and then do your home program rotation the next month.
Thank you !
< lmao i got invited to both DO places and harvard/stanford e.t.c < what are the "both DO" places you are referring to.
Need interview impressions for: case western metro health, oklahoma, Mayo Arizona and jacksonville, honors,Columbia, Lehigh, Loyola, LSU, KCU, USF, UT medical branch and San Antonio, Temple University, WVU <excuse me, who are you? < lol my first thought was WTF. who are you demanding stuff from but then I realized that they aren't actually saying they need these, just that we as a sheet still need these as they haven't been filled out lol
anyone know if lehigh valley health network has released their II's; don't see them on the II counters but remember at the open house they were planning on Nov 29 < was hoping to hear back from them!!!
Are there really only 4 program specific supplemental applications this year (BU, UTSW, Penn, Lehigh Valley)? I already filled out Penn's app (took less than 5 min) but is it even worth writing supplementals for only 3 other extra programs? Is it because of the new ERAS supplemental that the number of program specific supplemental apps is low? < i think so. I only did the UTSW one because I had answers. I applied to BU because why not, not sure how to say that in 5 paragraphs
The supplement page says there's a new supplement for Lehigh Valley, but I can't find any information on this on the website. Anyone got any info on this? < where is Lehigh Valley, never heard of it. < DO program in lehigh valley PA

Lehigh II x4
edit match sheet : Lehigh has 2 spots. Also add Cooper in PA; Columbia has 4 spots and NYU has 8
additional edits: loyola has 3 spots, U of C has 4, SIU has 2, MCW has 5
SIU has 3 as of last year
PD at Loyola said there's 4 spots this year
Absolutely. While reviewing applications, the residents and faculty note applicants they WANT to interview and then there are the so so applicants they still give the interview just in case/ curtosey/ etc. During the interview, I find it obvious the way the residents and such interact with the stellars that looked great on paper during the interview. As long as they aren't straight weirddo, I assume they will be ranking them highly. There is always that rare case of someone that is a weirdo and will drop down that list if that are just plain weird or doesnt seem like a fit
<Like the way residents interact with them during the downtime? That seems unlikely.
Very unlikely. Most residents don't know your application. If they are an interviewing resident, they probably have a limited application and don't know your scores.< It variues by program (some were blinded, others had scores/stats in front of them). However, at most programs there is no official rank list pre-interview that interviewers know about since they don't all meet together to make this list. They may each have their individual rank list generally based on their own interests and how it overlaps with the applicants they read about to prepare for the interviews but honestly there were plenty of interviewers who knew very little about me at both top and mid tier programs. Also, a lot of programs use a scoring system during interviews which is what makes their initial rank list which serves as a starting point during the rank meetings
< thought columbia was 5? <yes my mistake it's 5!
I can confirm a few residents and faculty that interviewed me were aware of my scores
<< thanks, will update
Is Lehigh Valley in the "interview invites" tab? I cannot find it
osteopathic tab
thanks
so stupid to be separated, PLEASE PUT ALL THE DERM PROGRAMS UNDER THE SAME TAB!!!
well, separated helps us DOs a bit cuz tbh we have very little chance at MD programs, so no point in really using the main invite tab <preach X100
What's a soft invite ^
regional and because my PD knows their PD
< I may be outing myself, but do you go to harvard and are you talking about BU? << I know who you are now ;)
< yeah if i went to Harvard i wouldnt panic. no, not from there at all lol
< LOL ok sorry!
