For ERAS 7 not-most meaningful activities, should we add a line on what we learned from the experience, or why we wanted to do it, etc.? or just stick to here is what I did.

Tbh the way she phrased things were wrong, but pretty privilege is definitely a thing, and especially in competitive specialties like derm. I hate it but it does seem to be the case when you hear stories of residents talking about "feedback" being to dress better, style makeup better, etc. sucks though

Hey ya'll we have most of the spreadsheet filled out now (a separate copy exists despite someone sabotaging and deleting). We are still missing matches for: Kansas (KS), Vanderbilt (TN), Temple (PA), MCG (GA), St. Lukes (PA), HCA Corpus Christi (TX), HealthPartners (MN), Mayo Clinic (Jacksonville) (FL), EVMS (VA), Marshfield Clinic (WI), DCC-Flint (MI), LSU - New Orleans (LA).

Penn did multiple rtm calls confirmed

Mar 22

OP: im totally not disputing this, im just reassuring future applicants that you can match a T5 without any rtm calls too, so there doesn't need to be fear mongering. i support all sharing of information and also did hear that penn and yale did rtm communications

reapplicant here:( how can i see what programs had R spots available this past cycle? also does that change every year?>> Yup changes every year, there was approximately 7 or 8 when I submitted ERAS and maybe 4-6 that came out from start to end of cycle

#33492025–2026 DermMar 17

this year I think was UCSF, case western, midwestern, UTMB, puerto rico, larkin, pcom georgia, temple, mcg, utah - half of those came out halfway through the cycle

Mar 17

The ones from the start of the cycle: Lark S Miami (not real, reserved for the unpaid research fellow), Case Western, Midwestern, DCC-Flint, UTMB, PR, PCOM, Georgia. Later ones that came out but from the grapevines they only interviewed people that had already signaled earlier in the cycle and/or were reserved for internal as there wasn't any mention of new reapplicants that hadn't originally signaled getting IIs: UCSF, Temple, MCG, NYMC, Wayne State, Utah

Any insight on temple PA away?

#24512024-2025 DermMar 16

there is a tab with a ton of info. great away, lots of experience and you get to do a lot but that also means you have to do a lot

Mar 16
0

and if you want a shot at actually matching at temple you NEED to do the away, otherwise don't bother

Mar 16
0

rotated there this cycle. it is guarenteed interview if you do the away, the issue is there are >50 people interviewed for 3 seats. But you get to work with the PD/chair and all of the residents on a daily basis so plenty of chances to make a strong impression.

what do you want to know? it was a pretty standard interview, nothing surprising.

just am nervous as it is my first interview.

gotcha, I think it's impossible to not be nervous then. Trust in the practice you got from prelim/TY interviews and be yourself. Best of luck!

Has anyone done an away at Temple? Would love to hear your thoughts! << Temple matched all people from Temple this year. Not sure if it's worth doing an audition rotation as an external student, unless you have some tie to Philly < Good point... it looks like in past years they matched 1-2 from Temple < it's great for learning regardless < Temple student here. It was an unusual year where a lot of the students applying really wanted to stay. Previous years, people wanted to go elsewhere. Also last year had 6 home applicants while this year there are 2-3. But I will say, it is very unlikely you match unless you are home or away. But they interview all away rotators.

#6292022-2023 DermMar 21

Good to know about Temple. Sylvia Hsu is an awesome mentor to have. She was actually recruited from Baylor College of Medicine. Candrice Heath is a great person as well. I'm actually surprised that they haven't recruited more full-time academic faculty though or the ones who do come haven't stayed very long.
