who matched duke?
someone from penn state apparently
also one of their fellows
Hershey, PA
Sentiment score: 5.8 / 10
Applicants discuss Penn State Hershey's interview logistics, including confusion around interview date releases, hotel accommodations, and scheduling conflicts. The program receives mixed feedback with notable discussion about its reputation, interview day experience, and culture, though some applicants express frustration with communication and administrative processes. Overall sentiment reflects typical residency application cycle concerns rather than strong program-specific criticism.

Can we make a list in the cell to the right of places whose derm interview automatically counts as your interview for a prelim/TY year too?
Penn State, Northwestern, Yale (kind of), Georgetown, Ohio State, Brown, Cleveland Clinic, UPMC, UTHSC (tennessee), Zucker/Northwell, Emory, Mizzou, WVU, Dartmouth
wait I didn't know about Northwestern, are we sure?
northwestern med derm counts for prelim.
Penn state does??
yes Penn state does, presented to us on interview day
what about northwestern regular Derm/peds derm> NW med derm counts for advanced derm NW position + med derm position. NOT prelim. You can ask to be considered for categorical IM, but that was not guaranteed by just applying.
Exact wording: "We are very excited to welcome you to the Northwestern University combined Medicine-Dermatology interviews, which also serves as interviews for either the categorical Medicine and/or advanced Dermatology tracks, if you have applied to either of those Northwestern programs. "
northwestern med derm counts for prelim.

Did divingdermdoc (nabeel) rotate at Penn State? >idk
dm him and ask
yes, he said he did
I think he said yes but I could be wrong
lol these dermfluencers that are only PGY1s acting like they know so much...stfu with your 232 step
I know a Derm influencer who scored >270 on step 2 she is a nice person >I know who you're talking about with the 232 step and don't be rude. like they are going out of their way to help you with advice and give back and instead of appreciating the fact that they're open about their score, you're trashtalking them? literally you stfu
imagine hating from outside the club….you can't even get in < love it young breezy> wtf which derm resident matched with a 232?!?!
nabeel
Penn State residency cares if you are a nice, hardworking person. another example of how board scores arent EVERYTHING
did he rotate there
idk
I'm having a hard time believing this is true. and if he got a 232 that would invalidate a lot of the advice he gives because clearly something else is going on to have caused him to match.
he has said he had a low step in his advice, he triple applied derm, peds, med peds bc of it
he also posted on reddit that he got into the 230s
im sitting on derm 5 IVs with 230s step 2 and haven't been asked once about it at any interview 😅 obviously dual applied, but step score isn't everything
What's with the rave about influencers? I went into medicine and derm bc I'm passionate about patient care, not because I want attention lol
tell that to the PGY1s
divingdermdoc lol
Nabeel is actually a good one. He's helped a lot of students and shares great content IMO
i noticed that the three top influencers that i see on ig are going to penn state
he also has a low step
you are overrotated on step scores - they're not generally relevant to how good of a derm you become
sure, but only after you match. before you match, they're at least somewhat meaningful
> why do you all care so much? like live your life and let them live theirs
if you're going to be online people will have opinions sooo
it's genuinely pathetic to spend any amount of mental effort/energy hating on others for no reason soooo
pot... meet kettle...
calling people out for being pathetic losers is actually not hating <3
name calling is.. not hating..? lol yall nasty
It is a little pathetic to hate like this ngl, let them do their thing and you do yours, the fact is there are good and bad influencers and the good ones do help premeds (charging $$ for help is predatory though). so..chillllllll
jelly bc theyre making bank (cringe or not money dont lie)>> I can also suck cock on OnlyFans and make more money. Some of us value self respect over $$$
this is a cheap comparison. The majority of people barely even make $100 per month on OF.
comparing posting on tiktok to OF is SICK. SEEK HELP!
tell that to the PGY1s
divingdermdoc lol

Does anyone know if there is a list of prelims / TYs that automatically consider you for their institution's prelim/TY or their derm interview counts as the prelim/TY interview? Sitting at one TY and one prelim but a few derms and want to know if I should go into ERAS and add them or if I should worry more :P
emory and Pitt, GW (if you applied to linked prelim-derm), henry ford, penn state
uconn, Henry Ford
oh so if you didn't get uconn prelim, does that mean you probably won't get derm?
oh so if you didn't get uconn prelim, does that mean you probably won't get derm?
If I want to match anywhere, where should I rotate? aka which programs interview mainly rotators?
Most of them interview rotators>emory>UF>tulane>Baylor Scott and White Temple
musc
thank you!
want to reiterate that it's getting harder to get these away rotations so you might not have a choice but check the schools that didnt II aways from this year and last year
Would add penn state and jefferson to this list but can't edit the cell for some reason
i believe wayne state also does
musc
thank you!
i believe wayne state also does
Did anyone get any rejection emails from any of the above today?
no> UNC reject email someone mentioned Penn State as well
no rejections, just getting ghosted by programs like they're a tinder date
yeah does the ghosting mean there's hope? is there a method to this like they come out in waves? idgi
I wish we had definitive answers from programs today, I hate that I have to monitor this spreadsheet to see if I missed out or not
UNC sent out rejections... >< + 6 (OUCH)
still appreciate they let us know tho lol
agreed > getting a rejection is helpful. Got one from UNC, rejection :(
Penn state also sent rejections 🥲
Are these programs allowing you to schedule today or just saying here's interview?
The one I just got said schedule Wednesday
what happens if we schedule an interview today? I could already schedule in thalamus although I realized the invite said to schedule Wednesday
which program? mine said schedule wednesday and it shows 0 spots for all of the dates on thalamus rn
which program? mine said schedule wednesday and it shows 0 spots for all of the dates on thalamus rn
is anyone else surprised penn state released IIs today? their website said they were releasing on 11/3... chaos
yes LMAO and also slightly disappointed rip >wtf was it internals or are they all out?
think all are out (aways also got them)
only 6 internals, 30 spots taken, so all out
seems like all are out, i'm not an internal
did u away?
Did any DOs get an interview?
did u away?
Are all Arizona invites out, or more to come?
usually there's only one release date for each school unless otherwise specified> pretty sure they are all out >what about penn state
they're all penned out
rip, down to 27!
:') :'(
AZ only had a November interview date so would there be more coming still?
they also had a January date but I think it's all full> both dates are full
would you say that the majortiy of derm applicants have a handful of interviews and only a handful of applicants have the majority of invites?
feel like this may be true; have heard from some who applied last year who had 20+ interviews lol
if someone gets 20 invites can you share some wealth :( <3 ty
Wait... Penn already released? :'(
Penn state
whew

anyone know penn state's thoughts on signaling after aways?
Does anyone know if any interviews are in person this year?
there def will be some - probably similar to last year maybe a few more
can we start listing them in the cell beside pls
should we make an interveiw detials tab????????
Anyone know when Mississippi is releasing?
Confirmed virtual : UC Davis, UCLA-harbor, UCSD, Penn State
Has anyone doing the Penn State away heard anything? I accepted months ago through VSLO, but never got a real confirmation, or was told to pay a deposit, or received any sort of onboarding/approval instructions? Not sure if my away is actually happening (oct dates)
Same here for a similar rotation date! Literally no confirmation or anything whatseoever, I check VSLO at least once a week to make sure I am not imagining it lol
you can email them but you will probably not get any information until the week before lol
same experience and had the same panic/fear. certianly reach out if you need help with housing during the rotation, but otherwise, i imagine they'll send more information closer to your rotation dates (I will also be there Oct/Nov)

Anyone heard from the Penn State virtual away yet?
denied bc rolling admission
when did you apply and when did you hear back? i know they moved up the due date due to the surplus of apps...
I applied & have not heard back
applied Jun 17 heard back Jun 23 (im the one who said denied bc rolling admission)
did you get it?
they just sent an email saying decisions will be released on July 18! Best of luck to everyone who applied!
What does someone do during a virtual away?
