NYU is taking 9, UNC 6
Ahh nothing like starting the day to a rejection letter from Wake Forest. Thank god for drinking on Thirsty Thursdays. #Retweet x8| Oh my gosh... YESSSS
Just curious, are the people who received rejections very competitive applicants (indicating there might have been some review of your application) or do you guys think it was a filter-based rejection (for instance, step 1<240 or third year grades)?
I would consider myself a competitive applicant (Step 1 260, AOA, Good amount of research and extracurriculars; but let's get real everyone is probably a good applicant), but I still think some degree of filtration goes into it. They probably have a system similar to UNC where they divide the country into regions and subsequently filter out people until they get applicants who are "representative" of the whole country to interview
Very impersonal rejection
So is this a bad sign for the rest of the cycle if I was already rejected at Wake?
Can't think that way, man/woman/person. Hang in there.
FWIW, rejected with 240s Step 1 and not from area
Also rejected, with 245+ step 265+ step 2/AOA, not from the area
DO with 250s step 1 and 240s step 2 NOT rejected.... this is weird| So if we didn't hear either way? Are we waitlisted?
Maybe first screen was Step 1 < 250 :(
I don't think it means anything for those who haven't heard. They did several waves of rejections last year--they probably divide the applications into piles and have only gotten through one. If you haven't heard, it just means they haven't gotten to you yet.
FWIW, rejected with 260+ step 1 and step 2
I rotated at Wake and was told that their first filter is by skimming LORs only without looking at scores or grades
I guess my LORs were not as good as I thought lol
Ouch, so basically if we receive a rejection from WF anytime soon, we should start panicking more?
What does it mean if we still haven't heard anything from WF?
Nothing. They sent many waves of both interview offers and rejections last year.
NI predict... UNC invites going out today.
Last year they sent rejections on the same day lol OH BOY
UNC or VCU today?
UNC was this Monday last year. Hopefully we hear something today
*fingers crossed*!!! I just want some more lovin'
UNC invite
UNC waitlist x15
UNC rejection x25
Wonder how many people are on the waitlist x1
571 applications?! It's a miracle anyone matches
1/4 will go unmatched essentially e
so how long is that waitlist....| I'm thiking at least another 30 if not more. Top 3 MAY get an invite haha.
Yeah I count that as a rejection. Also, why have a 30 person waitlist if you plan on inviting 3.... | Applicant last year here: waitlisted by UNC this time of year, got an invite off wait list in January. Had to turn it down at that point due to scheduling though
Do you mind providing stats
<- I would rather not
UNC WAITLIST 😩 how many are on the waitlist? Is it like 20 or everyone else!
some people got rejections so it can't be everyone else. unclear how many though
see the convo a few rows above - seems like a lot considering these are just from the sample size of people reporting on SDN
We are oficially 1/4 of the way through interview invite season today (25% of programs have sent out first contact)! Timestamp: Nov 3, 2017.
well this is depressing...
Is it still accurate that 25% of us have zero interviews still or are people just not updating their stats? I'm feeling pretty awful over here with zero interviews still... cant think of a reason why I would all of a sudden get a bunch of interviews.... so assuming I will finish with a below average number. starting to get to me. This week was supposed to be big. And it was. for what seems like everyone else....
Keep in mind that this is a small sample size and one that may not necessarily be representative of the entire derm applicant pool. UNC's rejection letter says that they got 571 applications, and we have 57 people participating in the Stats tab. There are likely many more applicants out there who are sitting at 0 interviews now.
At this rate, there is no way matched applicants will have an average of 8 interviews.
What do you mean?? x6
I think whoever wrote this is alluding to the fact that there are so many applicants this year, many of whom seem highly qualified, that interviews will be harder to come by and therefore the average number of interviews that people get on average will be lower, even those that match. That's how I interpreted the comment at least
I haven't updated mine (which currently says zero) since the spreadsheet switch to this other type of commenting
Hm, you should be able to sign out of google then right click to comment anonymously and change the stats tab in a completely anonymous way. That is what the majority of people have been doing. Is that helpful? We would all certainly appreciate it if you kept it updated in this way!
looks like Dartmouth, Wisconsin, UNC and Wake Forest starting sending out invites around this time last year so maybe we'll hear some news soon!
ooo exciting
soOoOoooOOoo exciting. Anyone hear about some IOs yet???
U Wisconsin just sent out invites.
Rejected from UNC :D
UNC invite! CONGRATS x2
Anyone from the Northeast get a UNC invite?
Anyone get off Duke, UNC, U of M, etc. waitlists? no for DUKE
Anyone come off of the wait list at UNC yet??!?!?!
When did the waitlister hear from UNC if they don't mind sharing? Is there still hope or was it not this week and likely already offered to someone else?
Some posts are shown because their comments mention this program.
I wasn't expecting to get an interview there, as I have never lived in and have no connection to the South. But I was surprised to hear from any program so early and sadder than I expected to be.
