what programs are reapplicant friendly?
UMass and Dartmouth, probably others too
Lebanon, NH
Sentiment score: 6.2 / 10
Applicants discuss Dartmouth's interview logistics, location considerations, and program characteristics. The program is noted for its rural New England setting with limited diversity training but excellent case exposure, rigorous interviews, and a fun match day culture. Some applicants express disappointment about not receiving interviews, while others highlight internal hiring practices and the addition of a third position.
❌1. Next to no skin of color, almost all skin checks all day everyday. Very high clinic volume and residents worked very hard while in clinic, lectures during lunch everyday, seems like little admin time. Location is very rough (there are no Ubers available).

Is anyone able to provide some specific program info regarding Dartmouth on the information sheet

Can we make a list in the cell to the right of places whose derm interview automatically counts as your interview for a prelim/TY year too?
Penn State, Northwestern, Yale (kind of), Georgetown, Ohio State, Brown, Cleveland Clinic, UPMC, UTHSC (tennessee), Zucker/Northwell, Emory, Mizzou, WVU, Dartmouth
wait I didn't know about Northwestern, are we sure?
northwestern med derm counts for prelim.
Penn state does??
yes Penn state does, presented to us on interview day
what about northwestern regular Derm/peds derm> NW med derm counts for advanced derm NW position + med derm position. NOT prelim. You can ask to be considered for categorical IM, but that was not guaranteed by just applying.
Exact wording: "We are very excited to welcome you to the Northwestern University combined Medicine-Dermatology interviews, which also serves as interviews for either the categorical Medicine and/or advanced Dermatology tracks, if you have applied to either of those Northwestern programs. "

anyone else hoping the rank gives you more intern years you didnt know you had by getting derm interview?? lol
on that note, which programs give you an automatic prelim interview? brown, dartmouth, more idk
does anyone have a list of places for TY/prelim that had SOAP spots last year?
i heard dartmouth had one
Thoughts on dartmouth interview days?
did anyone else feel like they were repeating the same question in a lot of the rooms? lol
yes haha, got asked like 3-4 times if I could see myself living in NH
Is the few minutes where you go up on stage and say where you matched more important than where you will spend the next few years
people go on stage to say where they matched? mine just gives you the envelope and then you just open in a large room with everyone else and their family. kinda messed up to put people on the stage
Is this WashU / Dartmouth? WashU's match stage event be so crazy each year. And they make a video out of it every year. Some of the people opening their envelopes genuinely seemed sad. Dartmouth's match is fun though - I think you get to play your own boss song as you walk down the aisle? I may be misremembering though.
stage. I'm just here to flex on them
I'm so glad my school doesn't do this, I'm choosing where I'll be the happiest.
yea my school doesn't do this either lol i could care less what other people think too old for that
tbh I thought every school did this. Mine does and I like it but I can see it both ways
how many aways i did and where and how the culture was there also if i applied to X program in same state, idk if these are illegal but i felt weird when asked> feels fishy to me> attendings just being weird and out of touch in general, one interview someone heavily implied that out of state people shouldnt be interviewed etc
Got asked if u need to eliminate a country, what country that would be and why…..
wait guys lowkey after interviews are done we should make a fame and shame interview only edition sheet for these kinda things/ vibes of the rooms
totally agree

Tulane, hopkins, (feel free to add more), yale, vandy, louisville, USC, miami, mayo Jax
basically most Florida programs (not all but like 50%), Cincinnati, MUSC, Utah, Mayo AZ, dartmouth

as a reapplicant, one thing to keep in mind is a lot of physician spots fill internally. dartmouth had 2 and they only interviewed 2 people that were internal so not an open spot for everyone
>Likely the case with most physician spots at institutions with fellow
who is considered an internal? fellows or people doing their intern year there?
what do you mean? I am external and interviewed for their R spot
internal residents or students who are reapplicants or away/research students

reapplicant here:( how can i see what programs had R spots available this past cycle? also does that change every year?>> Yup changes every year, there was approximately 7 or 8 when I submitted ERAS and maybe 4-6 that came out from start to end of cycle
this year I think was UCSF, case western, midwestern, UTMB, puerto rico, larkin, pcom georgia, temple, mcg, utah - half of those came out halfway through the cycle
The ones from the start of the cycle: Lark S Miami (not real, reserved for the unpaid research fellow), Case Western, Midwestern, DCC-Flint, UTMB, PR, PCOM, Georgia. Later ones that came out but from the grapevines they only interviewed people that had already signaled earlier in the cycle and/or were reserved for internal as there wasn't any mention of new reapplicants that hadn't originally signaled getting IIs: UCSF, Temple, MCG, NYMC, Wayne State, Utah

University of Minnesota VS. Dartmouth?
what sweet treats is dartmouth before the happy hour
anyone know what time dartmouth is releasing scheduling tomorrow?
did anyone else just hear the dartmouth PD say that your TY can't have more than 2 electives lmao
For anybody who is interviewing at Dartmouth Hitchcock this year, BE PREPARED!!! They were incredibly rigerous last year with loads of tricky behavioral questions. < oh gosh...like what?
