❌1. Honestly so hit or miss with the faculty. Some are incredibly kind and some are so bizarre. During the interview, one of the Mohs surgeons just went on bizarre tangents, asked random unrelated questions, and I heard she did this to others too (someone said she made them sing on the spot during the interview??). One of the other interviewers just straight up NRMP violationed and asked me explicitly where I did my aways, if I was considering my hometown/undergrad institution for residency and if I applied there, which was super awkward to navigate. PD seems nice but also a little awkward. Tons of faculty turnover the last few years.
❌2. Program is in a rebuild phase, having lost many faculty and mostly newer faculty.
💬1. Makes sense that chasing prestige means you have socially inept or egotistic folks, who can get away with poor behavior because of entitlement and name brand. It's our job to avoid paying it forward and chase out toxicity+1 > Lol Hopkins as a derm dpt doesnt live up to its undergrad/med school rep. They've also lost some of their top tier faculty and are sorta in a rebuild phase. Anyone chasing Hopkins for the undergrad rep is kinda hilarious

Why is Hopkins derm program relatively less stronger than their peer institutes like Harvard, UCSF, Penn? Never really understood why this is the case
Hopkins derm is fine and great education - splitting hairs at this point tbh.
Rankings are basically equivalent to research funding amounts so they probably have less derm research relative to the others
how are the research opportunities for hopkins med students?
Shhhh no one let them in on the Hopkins and Baltimore charm, keep out the competition < < Hopkins is a gem

Has anyone heard any correspondence from JHU other than itinerary? Any response from the residents/interviewer buddies other than the intro email?
i reached out to my resident buddy and they got back to me in a couple days; nothing else other than that
ah ok thanks!
This spreadsheet skews to a lower number of interviews I believe. The internals at my program are at an avg of 8 IIs each
school tier?
T25
I feel like that's not particularly true; at a T10 and advisors have said 5-6 seems like the average
at a T50 (if that's even a thing lol), and the avg among internals also seems higher (8-10 range)
this is why we need everyone to fill out the II chart tab!!
know about 6 ppl applying, avg we all have is 4 (range 3-8), most someone ik has is 8
At T15 program and this is not the case at our program - people are more around 3-5 IIs for us
agree, at at T5 and people are averaging around 6-8 I'd guess
what t5 are you at? Hopkins?
homie not the person at T5 but no one's going to air out their school name here

are slots for hopkins showing up for anyone on thalamus?
nope
I was able to schedule, and 12/10 is mostly gone
why is there also an interview date for 12/9 for hopkins? i thought its only 12/3 and 12/10
? where do you see 12/9
its there lol
i wouldnt sign up for it bc it's weird that it's also shorter + the thalamus email still only lists 12/3 and 12/10 as 2 interview dates
12/9 is for 2
my 2 options were the 3rd and 10th
What I still cannot schedule.
Same, I can't either.
as of 12:29PM still cannot schedule
check on mobile, worked for me
still seeing nothing on thalamus. anyone else in the same boat?
same
i still dont see anything :(
emailed PC
definitely email, showed up immediately for me on thalamus. 12/3 and 12/10 afternoon slot is full
emailed an still not showing up lol
PC aware of issue and contacted thalamus
I emailed and now 1 singular date showed up for me
a bit bummed because 12/3 is the only one open. going to be rough paying for the flights etc for IP
12/3 is tough given that it's the last coordinated scheduling date :|

JHU not interviewing multiple (4) away rotators that golded/silvered.... OOF
SHAME SHAME SHAME
TOMATO TOMATO
have you thought maybe you didn't perform well?
ew you sound really pretentious. Let people vent. Pipe down
me thinking id get an interview here with a silver and no away is hilarious at this point + 4> but why is that shame? We all know you're not guaranteed an interview just because you rotated and signaled
are we surprised that JHU doesn't care if you do an away or not
I'm not going to defend Hopkins too hard, but they did have ~15 internal candidates this year. Given that, a fair number of away rotators, and 8 slots, I guess it isn't surprising that not everyone that did an away got an II. That being said BOOOOOO!!!!
if you were expecting an II, double check your spam!! I'm an internal applicant and the invite went to my spam which sent me into a panic for a few hours before I realized, hopefully if anyone else had the same thing happen they can find it in their spam
Take ur unsafety OUT of this safe space. Thanks
JHU deserves the SHAME
Somebody erased this, but pls check your spam if you gave your gmail for ERAS. My JHU invite was hiding in the spam
I JUST FOUND AN INVITE ILY THANK U
Thank you so much! Also found in my spam!
My office 365 has no spam, so not sure how to look for this if it also isn't on Thalamus
I haven't heard back. so I guess no interview?
same which sucks tbh since i had lots of connections > this hurt

Anyone know how late in the day schools may send out invites so i can drown my sorrows in boba
looks like a couple came out in afternoon last year
still waiting for UPMC and Hopkins, and UVA and virginia tech , musc part 1>do we know which ones came out in the afternoon last year? >Anyone know if Yale releases any today as they have early December dates?
Yale is 11/17 according to the spreadsheet
I'm confused as I see 11/3 but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place
can we compile a list of places that are anticipated to release invites nov 3rd??
duke, penn, mcw, univ of arkansas, hopkins, UNC, OSU, UPMC
wait penn is 11/3???
also Baylor, Geisinger, Mayo, Cornell, Northwestern (?), Ohio State, Arkansas, UT San Antonio, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech
pretty sure penn is 12/1
isn't Yale traditionally 11/3?
per the spreadsheet, 11/17

what programs are super heavy on research?
Penn, Hopkins, Harvard, UCSF, Stanford, Duke, Mich, Northwestern, basically the top tier academic institutions
< what if you're a DO that's heavy on research? Consnsus is MD programs like more research. DO programs like higher scores/academics. < then im cooked < CWRC/UH hospitals is DO friendly and research heavy
Some posts are shown because their comments mention this program.
the itenary is published on thalamus
thank you!
