Anyone know anything about NYMC. Have my interview coming up and would appreciate the deets
Ive heard mixed things. Am sitting next to a chief resident right now who conducts IV for a different specialty and I asked her and she said she appreciates them, but its rarely make-or-break
<Don't do it. Most programs rank at one time and don't even consider this. I think if we collectively phase this out it will benefit everyone. This puts too much pressure on applicants and is of little utility. They know we are thankful and just make sure you thank them in your interview.
NO thank yous.... maybe a Love letter to your Number ONE after derm .
Thankfully many programs say explicitly not to waste time with thank you notes
aint nobody got time for them
<--- It's a nice gesture - but realize most of these are going to go straight into the trash.
< I don't think there is a consensus. For prelim interviews, there were a few faculty I really connected with and sent thank you emails to, but that was because I had a 40min-1hr interview with them. For derm, that doesn't make sense. I'm not planning to send any. Also, programs make their rank list immediately after the last interview, so if you are trying to use the thank you letter to garner positive sentiment, send it ASAP
