What is the most chill NYC program?
sinai = cornell
columbia
einstein
NYU
downstate
something to think about is that cornell and columbia have twice as much call as sinai and nyu due to class size
cornell & mt sinai
Bronx, NY
Sentiment score: 4.8 / 10
Applicants express mixed views on Montefiore/Einstein, with significant focus on interview logistics and scheduling concerns. The program is generally positioned as a solid choice for general dermatology and NYC-based training with good patient diversity, though some criticize the Bronx location and compare it unfavorably to higher-tier programs like Michigan. Notable concerns include faculty engagement issues, unprofessional conduct during rotations, and administrative communication problems.
✅1. The faculty and residents are incredibly kind
❌1. Not their fault, but the commute between sites really sucks and is why I won't be ranking it higher. Most residents live in UES which is great but the commute is between 45 min to 1 hr 15 depending on what site you're at.

only have my home program and 1 2-week away, trying to not freak out but i do have 40+ apps on VSLO pending, any chance programs are still accepting? ive emailed aways i applied to, got many ghosts, and some rejections :/ , its actually so frustrating when they dont respond to some people, but others have said they have heard back when they emailed
did you email the program coordinators-->yes
I actually emailed Einstein about a week ago and they offered me a spot but I had to decline due to a prior commitment so emailing definitely still is helpful at this stage
when did you hear back from Montefiore?

I'm not able to edit the new fame & shame sheet but been waiting to drop this about Northwell (tried to post about this before rank lists were due but was accused of trying to manipulate others' rankings): during my rotation, I walked in on a faculty member/resident using a racial slur while referring to my co-rotator. the convo immediately stopped when I entered the room. I later reported the incident through Hofstra’s official reporting channels, but nothing came of it. neither my co-rotator nor I ended up receiving interviews from the program (which is whatever). despite the program appearing to have a diverse group of residents, I would strongly caution against rotating at Northwell if you’re a POC
omfg? lock the cell
what was the slur, asking for a friend
size 96 font and bolded please, I'm hard of sight
whoever said montefiore asked alot of research questions sure wasn't lying lol
YES one interviewer said "im going to use you for CME review" then asked about details of my publication haha
thoughts on montefiore as a program? are they nationally recognized (lets say a T40)?
per doximity they are #19 in country
The doximity rankings are moot.
Montefiore cosmetics exposure?
How is Hofstra/Northwell's cosmetics training?
They gotta a lot of mohs
what about cosmetics?
Very lacking
at least monthly cosmo sessions tho

montefiore interview thoughts? OP what did you think?
i thought it was pretty fair, faculty seemed to drill questions and there wasnt much banter or small talk. could be because i didnt rotate nor was I home student so they wanted to know me, wbu
felt the same. Had some small talk but mostly back to back questions about research. Not sure if there was room to show any personality especially not being a rotator or home student
agreed alot of research q. was lowkey lame, wanted to tell more about myself who cares about research
research, really??? thats kind of interesting
Thoughts on Einstein interview today?
mostly chill? they werent super friendly and nobody asked me to tell them about myself just straight to questions. also some of them def hardly read my app
Additionally, faculty are discouraged from communicating on behalf of applicants to program directors and faculty at other institutions, either before or after interviews. Program faculty can reach out directly to letter-writers or faculty at other institutions to ask questions about an applicant or to gather more information than is available in the letter or application, but this should be instigated by the interviewing program, not by the applicant or an applicant’s faculty mentor/advisor.
Post-interview communication of preference – including “letters of intent” and thank you letters – should not be sent to programs. These types of communication are typically not used by residency programs in decision-making and lead to downstream pressures on applicants.

Need to swap- am not sure if people are still checking the date swap tab. Trying to schedule SUNY 1/7 or 1/14 but the dates overlap my other interviews. Have OHSU 1/14, need 1/21. Have Northwell Hofstra 1/7 need 1/21. Could anyone please help a brother out and swap dates for OHSU or SUNY? 5413994603
would your 1/21s not interfere with eachother?
my mind is blown that one of the sinai derm residents is/was the god daughter of Jeffrey Epstein, who apparently wanted to marry her at one point. And now she's married to a Feldman??
wtf is a Feldman
"a feldman" god derm is so hilariously gay
how else would you have liked me to phrase it damn
not surprised given that its such an israeli department
who are the Feldmans?
this is so insane, i can't believe it.. just saw a video about her and her family's links to epstein
i'm just gonna say this - there are very powerful ppl in the background that influence things. not unique to derm
I mean she still had to do an RY at Sinai
and she's the daughter of a billionaire omg?
THIS is the tea im here for
drop her name
she's pretty easy to find, there's another mt sinai derm resident who is also the daughter of a multimillionaire (like 100s) which is wild
Celina Dubin. Just say the god damn name. Stop trying to be mysterious.
imagine applying to mount sinai that year as an innocent little applicant hoping to get in off of just your credentials, and then here you have the daughter of a billionare hedge fund manager who's connected to epstein applying with you.
a lot of people, especially at Sinai, are children/grandchildren of very wealthy people. There are multimillionaires in every class and around 60% of folks don't take out loans. If they aren't super wealthy, they have a parent who is an attending/faculty at Sinai. But also, Guttman don't care unless you do an RY at Sinai.
Honestly, we were all dealt different cards in life, and the only way to get the dream is to punch upward and try your best when you aren't given a full house.
I love being a random regular person that matched at a better program than Sinai
That's what I'm talking about. I know it's been at least a year since you matched, but from one random regular person to another, congrats!
yeah dude i get it, i didn't take out loans and my parents are millionaires sure but in the order of 10-15 million not 100+ million or billionaires enough to influence me going to certain undergrad, med school, residency or meeting people that will put me in the right rooms to get into freaking Sinai Derm
umm, so most people in college don't fit your demographic. I guess the grass is always greener looking at people at higher socioeconomic statuses, but when your parents are millionaires, and not 100mill/billionaires, you still were afforded opportunities that most others didn't have. But also, the best shot at matching at Sinai is being a Sinai student and doing an RY with Guttman, answering her 6am on a weekend phone calls telling you to come in during your RY, hoping she doesn't hate you and she loves you enough that you aren't 1 out of the 3 fellows that don't match and will never match. There are many programs, specifically in NYC, that will not rank you high enough if you are a Guttman/Sinai RY fellow. It's literally why almost no sinai student matches outside of Sinai (except Stanford every couple of years, Einstein sometimes).
Deleted: "Guttman scares me legit and I only saw her at a conference like once
why is it that all the hardcore zionist faculty are the meanest ones> tbh if ur a proponent of colonization and genocide maybe u need to be ousted from professional environments idk just a thought
a lot of leadership at derm programs in places like NY are hardcore Zionist, so what do we do about that "
Looked up the Feldman btw. Some big name derm at Wake
Steve Feldman is an absolute angel and does not belong in this discourse. I highly doubt he even knows this girl or her family> Feldman is a mfin G and he's anti Israel. Never speak bad on my homie ever again

Best program in NYC? All around, not just prestige?
on a similar note: what's the best program in a major city?
Harvard or Penn (if you consider Boston and Philly decent sized cities)

Does Hofstra/northwell do any sort of social event in person pre interview?
yes> have you gotten any details from the program yet?
POOP
Do we think Einstein/Monte dropped their full interview invite list?
i think so, it was via thalamus, felt like a mass message
