I'm not able to edit the new fame & shame sheet but been waiting to drop this about Northwell (tried to post about this before rank lists were due but was accused of trying to manipulate others' rankings): during my rotation, I walked in on a faculty member/resident using a racial slur while referring to my co-rotator. the convo immediately stopped when I entered the room. I later reported the incident through Hofstra’s official reporting channels, but nothing came of it. neither my co-rotator nor I ended up receiving interviews from the program (which is whatever). despite the program appearing to have a diverse group of residents, I would strongly caution against rotating at Northwell if you’re a POC

what about northwestern regular Derm/peds derm> NW med derm counts for advanced derm NW position + med derm position. NOT prelim. You can ask to be considered for categorical IM, but that was not guaranteed by just applying.

I had a similiar presentation for another program where I presented some of my bench/cool research which the attendings liked

personally I am not presenting anything related to derm/about myself but I feel like you can't go wrong either way!

Ya help - you can present on anything! I presented on myself but we had some people do research and some do more "fun" ones

NS/LIJ has 20 weeks of elective is great likes TY, though ICU/floors/nights you will be working like a prelim with some sick patients. good culture where you don't have to do much scut work compared to manhattan/nyc proper programs (eg no blood draws unless nurses fail 4 times)

anyone w insight on nassau TY? >nassau is toxic and work you like crazy with EM shifts. ONly pays 57k, the lowest i've seen

What about Northwell: Forest Hills, New Hyde, Plainview?

forest hills elite, love the area, great neighborhood to explore, located where the stadium that hosts weekly concerts, and is train ride away from the city. New Hyde not bad. Plainview is work and costly location for living, lot of private patients you gotta cover

no one cares about your research give them an interesting presentation about who you are as a person and what you bring to the table

but I've seen certain "about me" presentations that become very self-indulgent to the point of cringe. I've seen people talk about their cat like that was going to change the minds of the admissions committee.

< the idea of doing a presentation on top of the interview day is such a huge turn off to me. Why add more work to an already stressful day.

Assuming the program doesn't require you to cover any specific subjects/topics, it really allows you to shine and talk about what you're passionate about. It lets candidates shine beyond their stats or # of research pubs, just as the interview does. I'm all for more of these non-stat driven opportunities to shine throughout the selection process

would hate a presentation. feels like they could assess similar things through interview convos and pls don't make me dance for you (although if i had to I would do it with a smile on my face don't get me wrong)
