Fame & Shame
2025–2026 Derm
5 entries❌1. Very evident that this is a nepotism heavy program. They haven't taken their RY fellows in the past, so the program has a lot of pressure to match them. Highly favor PhD applicants, especially those from home, as you can tell from their resident roster that has 1 PhD every single year. The program coordinator was passive aggressive at times, and they handed out way too many away rotations when they knew from the beginning of the cycle who their picks were. This was evident because the interview attestation form was given out super late near the end of the cycle in February when most programs had you sign it before the interview day. No socials either, which is very rare for dermatology interviews that don't have second looks.
❌2. I enjoyed rotating here, but it's 100% a rotation mill. Sure, you'll get an interview from your rotation, but as many others have said on this spreadsheet UConn already knows who they want before interviewing. Don't waste your time if you're not a Quinnipac/UConn student, UConn research fellow, family friends with the program coordinator, or married to one of the residents
❌3. Unfortunately the rumors from the 2025-2026 spreadsheet are true. They already knew who they wanted prior to away rotators starting. They matched their internals (MD-PhD, two RYs and their fellow). They offer over 30+ away rotations and some in dermatopathology but it was clearly for show since they knew their rank list from their home and affiliate programs (fellows/Quinnipiac). I would be very cautious using an away here because it is based on nepotism. There is one very powerful faculty member at this institution that is very Pro-Trump and Pro-Zionist to the point where their scribe warns you beforehand working with them to not say anything and to let it happen. As a rotator I personally witnessed this faculty member get into a debate about politics while in the room with the patient who held an opposing view. There are no words to express the disappointment many rotators had for this away rotation seeing the match list prove these rumors true. Protect your feelings and do not trust this program to not match based on nepotism.
💬1. is the pro-trump pro-zionist a man or woman? I rotated here and didn't experience that lolol

Anyone able to switch September away at Uconn for August away?
Which programs are known rotation mills?
USC
Even more important than rotation mills are programs that only take their own research fellows. While rotation mills will still interview and match a percentage of their rotators (with variability between programs), programs that only take their research fellows will rotate and interview many of their rotators, but ultimately offer little to no chance of matching for those outside their fellows.
what programs do this besides sinai
what programs do this besides sinai, Mayo AZ
Rotating, signaling, and interviewing at these programs is a waste of time and is performative; they already know who they plan to take for the upcoming cycle
WashU
very true. Do NOT waste your time at Mayo AZ or Sinai. UConn also (at least this year). CWRU as well is a major rotation mill people need to talk more about
UCONN
Penn
Wake
CWRU
northwestern
Every other year uconn has taken a lot of their away rotators, including all their current residents.
Is it just me, or does it feel like dei epi/outcomes research is getting harder and harder to publish? Getting desk rejected with no comments from like 5-6 journals for each paper. And similar research was published in places like JAAD/JAMA derm 3 years ago
probs has to do with this administration lol
lol i feel like publishing anything in JAAD/JAMA is impossible these days
the dear dermatoethicist studies being published 24/7 make me go WHAT WHY THIS AND NOT MINE but alas
OMG same here
not true. have had 2 jderm and 2 jaad in the past year. this is my gut i think the rise of claude code and agentic AI leading to the ease of putting together crappy analyses + thrown together letter has the reviewers looking more closely at things. + if you don't have stats/epi credentials or aren't publishing w/ a PI who has a stats/epi background. whenever i submit I always provide my code for full transparency so they know whats up.
they publish absolute garbage in JAAD as long as its an MGH senior author
or UConn since editor is from there
Seeing people ranking my home program #1. Good luck Charlie (they're toxic as F cannot wait to get out).
say what it is coward
prob harvard they salty
i love my home program and people trash it on here all the time, probably to make others rank lower. cant wait to be done with this
UConn?
AHHH one of the derm programs I interviewed with sent a Valentine's Day care package 😭
what program is this?
definitely not uconn
definitely not uconn
Thoughts on UConn vs Wayne? Both programs that I'm not too familar with (OOS for both) - needed some help with ranking> I'd do Wayne over UConn
not OP but you could expand on why? UConn has better Mohs matches (UCLA, UF, etc.) although not sure if this is because there is more Mohs interest over there... interested to hear your thoughts
Mohs matches are not indicative of how good a program is. There are also people from UConn in prior years who went unmatched in Mohs
family? where are you from originally? priorities? vibes at tge two programs are very different
from the west coast (most family from there), both programs have mohs fellowship now, honestly just looking for good training and want to be a solid derm, may want to pursue mohs in the future - could you expand on vibes at the places and which you would rank higher?
As an away rotator at UConn, I can say that Dr. Feng (Mohs) had said he prefers to take people NOT from UConn internally as it's better to have more variety in trains of thought or w/e. Not sure if that will sway you. Otherwise, Wayne has more SOC, community family vibes between residents and faculty. UConn is semi-similar but there is an air of heirarchy there especially as an rotator...
Wayne state has also not historically taken their own for Mohs...
wayne state for diversity of training

need some help ranking programs that are in the middle of my list: Henry Ford, Minnesota, Ohio State, and UConn, don't really have connections to these places and haven't ever been to the midwest before lolol, any thoughts on these programs and how to rank?
Been told to rank the middle more so based on location
sounds good, yeah haven't been to any of these cities and hard to tell program vibes from the interviews, any thoughts about any of these programs?
I think a lot of it will come down to personal preference? Ex., for me personally, I'd prioritize programs in areas where I don't have connections that are next to a bigger airport to make it easier to see family/friends; city size and demographics are also something to consider
Columbus, OH is a great city to live in, great football and has an airport. Winters aren't as brutal as MN. Would recommend
disagree, I think Columbus Ohio sucks ass. But it's probably better than Detroit or Minnesota

Anyone receive a RTM call?
this doesn't happen
someone I know just did ….
what program
uconn
dead
comments calling this out (RTM from some t10) as fake are getting deleted. im so sick of this i hope karma finds each of us on match day
LMAO
I too got UConn phone call
we cant all get these phone calls
why torment ppl who are really really stressed out, we are the future of dermatology, don't ruin it for other people, this should be a supportive platform for us to talk about REAL stuff
> STOP this is def not true, and I also confirmed with ppl at UConn because my anxiety was through the roof!!!
you confirmed with their leadership that uconn didnt do RTM calls?
I spoke to some of the residents but I trust them
fair, were you an away? they were cold to some of us :/
I was an away and ik how you felt, it felt like they knew their ppl that they wanted to associate with, esp with the nepos :( fortunately got along with a couple residents that were kind
the nepos im dyinggg, theres always a few good eggs everywhere, glad you had that experience!!
ik, hoping for the best for both of us! are you ranking uconn highly? hopefully the coldness goes away for ppl that match there
i only have 3 interviews so... by default yes lol! maybe 1-2?
sending positive vibes your way! uconn is a good program despite all the nepo rumors, maybe we'll be co-resys who knows :)
if we are co-resys i will be spilling who i am on the spreadsheet!! fingers crossed for the two of us! <3 ( and everyone else reading)
haha <3
< can someone else confirm if the UConn calls are fake? as someone who only had 2 interviews (one being uconn) super stressed to hear thissss
your anxiety is valid but im gonna hold your hand when i say this—don't let people on the internet have control over your mental wellbeing right now. This is no longer in your control. I know it's easier said than done. < I think I know what program they're referring to, and it's not Uconn! wishing you the best <3
actually OP claimed it was a t10 making calls
tbh I just took that entire thread for sarcasm..
it originally had more content/details
I just find it interesting that multiple rotators had the same impression of them about knowing who their "picks" were during the rotation. It has to have some truth to it.

can someone provide a real answer to why Uconn has so many ppl ranking 1 lol
they had a lot of home students and aways this year who are largely from the CT/MA area and want to stay close to home> they had like 10 combined home RY etc students. Also if some apps only had 1-2 interviews it's not like people have many choices unfortunately.
i didn't interview there, but would've liked to - very famous faculty who love to teach, and reputation is residents are happy
every program has a famous person bffr
not true tho, not every program does have big names in the field

how are there more people ranking uconn on this list vs yale lol
there's hundreds of applicants applying that have never touched this sheet, seems like most of the ppl who rotated at uconn are on here, also big reason why uconn pops up on this sheet so much!
they also interviewed 50ish ppl. not sure how many yale did.
yale interviewed around 60 but people are real weird about it like sometimes a ton of negative info other times that info goes missing
w
Loveee seeing my top choice program get bashed on here because I absolutely loved my away there and it's in my favorite city <3, I appreciate you guyss
uams? Uconn?
lowkey curious as well, willing to drop what region?
no to both, it's east coast major US city
NYU
What’s the NYU tea? The fame & shame is suspiciously empty

do residents already know whos RTM at their programs??
yes! Give me your name, Social Security, picture of license, mother's maiden name, and penis girth, and I'll let you know where you are RTM!!
My SSN is 420-69-8008. ID to lright
found you in our database! I hope you like UConn 😉
not UConn again 😭
678-999-8212 <soulja boy?
yess 😉 > can someone actually answer the original Q I am dying to know
nah the residents def know, a lot of them are involved in the process
i'm guessing that they're under the same NRMP rules to not give out hints? :/
there is no NRMP rule saying that they cannot share information. The NRMP rules prohibit them from asking you inappropriate questions like "who's your #1?"
The chief residents most likely know, they might spill to the other residents.
tbh uconn is being overused now lets do a different program, not even funny anymore :(
Which prelim program in CT are on the chiller side?
....none
NOT st marys, uconn or griffin. I think greenwich?
