What anonymous posters said

Anonymous posters described a competitive and sometimes confusing application process, citing many rejections alongside interview invites, inconsistent supplement notifications, and uncertainty over ERAS scheduling replies. Some commenters placed the program in a mid-tier ranking while others ranked it more favorably, and several posts mentioned dermatoscope access and a handwritten thank-you note tradition, though a few said they did not receive one.

Fame & Shame

2025–2026 Derm

1. The chair asked some interesting political questions during the interview. Overall most faculty very nice though.

FYI for reapplicants...I heard there is a new program forming in MN that will likely have spots for July 2018 outside the match....will post more when I have info on how to apply

#8232017-2018 DermMar 23

Are you sure? Wouldn't you have to apply for it through ERAS?

Mar 23

When would you advise doing this? Should we wait until after MSPEs go out?

Mar 23

For the prelim/TY programs, I did it soon after I submitted my ERAS application. For Derm, I did it the first week of October.

yes I am sure that they have applied to be a program....but they haven't received final approval yet. and no, spots outside the match do tend to open up every year and it is often too late to go through ERAS, so they do an outside method.

Anyone else apply Med/Derm? Looks like Minnesota sent out interviews. It was much earlier than last year which seems odd!

#7812017-2018 DermMar 23

yes, but I have no idea when is 'normal'

Does U Minnesota have a regular track or is it only MED derm?

#7282017-2018 DermMar 23

They have a regular track as well. They've only released invites for combined Med/Derm (the email said invites for the regular track go out in November)

hmmm stanford doesn't traditionally use ERAS for invites

Mar 23

The email was through ERAS but there was no ERAS scheduling (since there's only 1 date)

Mar 23

the denial is apparently still alive and well here

Mar 23

But... but... It's November, which is the 11th month of the year, and 1=2, where the 2nd letter in Stanford is "t," meaning that Stanford gives out invites on Tuesdays. IT'S A TROLL, EVERYBODY!

Mar 23

Stanford typically does internals on separate date - not this year?

Mar 23

Stanford didn't release anything lol

Mar 23

are you sure, how do you know? Was this the troll too? I was wondering ... MODERATORS: any news on whether this stanford thing was a troll or not?

Please don't let this turn into a UCSF-style debacle. I got an interview - you can choose to believe it or not. I love how no one questions Case Western, Vandy, or Minnesota.

Thanks! I believe you, was just confused by all these unhelpful comments. Do you mind telling me if you're external or an internal student/away rotator? I really appreciate it.

Just a friendly reminder about TSA changes requiring some people from some states to carry alternate forms of ID instead of state driver licenses starting on 1/22/17. "Residents of Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington will have to use alternate ID forms (passport, military ID, or permanent resident card) to pass TSA security checkpoints—even for domestic travel."

So around December 1st, an applicant wrote in the chitchat that he/she was horrified because they had to sing Acapella during an interview. they then proceeded to delete the comment, and every time i would mention it again he/she would delete what i wrote. Can someone confirm where they had to sing acapella..im thinking Minnesota?
