What anonymous posters said

Anonymous posters frequently discussed Baylor College of Medicine's interview process, noting invites often went to internal applicants first and describing the process as somewhat disorganized or confusing with Baylor Dallas. Several posts described the program as solid but more clinically than research focused, with mixed impressions about faculty turnover and a few commenters noting a perceived lighter workload during their interview day.

I've read the comments, and sorry to keep asking the same question, but is UT Houston for sure not sending external invites?

derm applicant from last year here, interviewed at UT Houston as an external, they do interview externals, just not many.

I guess UT houston is interviewing externals, interviews are 1/18 and 1/25

Did anyone get just a video interview with UTHouston? I got it last minute a couple weeks ago and the APD mentioned a second look/getting in contact with residents but I haven't heard a thing since. getting nervous because rank lists are due in 2 weeks and I know nothing about the program!

Moderator: for the match list tab, UT Houston is only taking 5 residents this year.

Mod, Baylor Houston match list incorrect, they took 4 of their own students this year (all Baylor)

Looks like UT Health San Antonio sent out invites today. Guessing from their resident roster (6/8 current residents from Texas schools) that they went to Texas applicants

#8122017-2018 DermMar 23

can we get some confirmation on that, i.e are the people getting interviews in TX?

Mar 23

Might be easier to ask the opposite. Any non-TX people getting interviews?

Mar 23

They sent out interview offers. One of my classmates got offered one today. Texas student here

My guess is these are internal interviews.

They are not. My friend doesn't go to UTHSCSA

I am not from Texas and so did not apply there especially that all their residents are from UT San antonio, so apparently they only take their students. Saved me 28$! x4

if theyre going to take their own students every year, they should have the decency to pull out of the match instead of wasting our money and time x2

TX and CA are known for incest

Mar 23

love the term incest! haha although big programs in CA do take outsiders and are not always consanguinous. The small programs are the ones who commit incest

UTSW is probably the only exception but people from that state tend to want to stay in that state. It's not necessarily on purpose by the program, so they're not wasting your time if you interview there.

For Baylor College Derm, if anyone has 2/1 and would be willing to switch to 1/18, I would greatly appreciate it! Lmk via reply here. Thanks!

Only 8 programs left, plus second/third wave interviews

#2142017-2018 DermMar 23

For the sake of completeness, anyone receive (or know of someone who received) an interview invitation at any of the remaining sites: Case Western Metrohealth (not to be confused with University Hospitals), KCUMB Mesa, KCUMB Cuyahoga Falls, New York Medical College, Puerto Rico, St Joseph Mercy Livington, Temple, or UT Health Science Center at Houson?

Baylor College of Medicine invite, internal, internal only date is 1/25

6 programs left... Anyone hear from St. Joseph's Mercy Livingston, Temple, UPenn Med-Derm, UT Health Science at Houston or either of the KCU programs (Mesa or Cuyahoga Falls)?

#1922017-2018 DermMar 23

I spoke with a DO student during an interview, and she mentioned that St. Joesph's Mercy Livingston has already sent out invites, and that the PD said that only DO students will be interviewing.

Penn Med/Derm also apparently released invites although no one has said they got one (called coordinator... historically they interview 2-3 people only and don't always fill the spot)

Temple recently got a new department chair. Maybe theyre still getting set up? It does seem pretty late though

During a separate prelim intv in Philly, the attending I interviewed with told me Temple dermatology was having accreditation issues so not sure of their status

Mar 23

could you please elaborate on the temple accreditation issues? i see nothing on the acgme site.

Sorry I don't know any details was just told that by an attending (don't know the validity of it but also don't know why he would have just randomly brought it up)
