Fame & Shame

2025–2026 Derm

1 entry

1. You have to be one of Mangolds fellows to match here. It is a waste of 1 of 28 applications otherwise. The match history of the last however many years speaks for itself, but a current attending at Mayo AZ said to me (slight paraphrasing) “you just have to do what he says for a year and they’ll take you.”

is it correct to assume that most programs did NOT have any away rotators this year? from the internal candidate tally looks like only Mayo MN and Cook county had away rotators

Is Derm unique in mostly doing behavioral question interviews, and if so, why? My medicine interviews have been conversational, and friends in surgery dont get many behavioral questions <I feel like I haven't gotten too many behavioral questions at derm interviews? Mayo had a lot but otherwise I felt like most programs have maybe 1 behavioral question per station and the rest was conversation x3

To PDs: I am much more inclined to like your program if I have a pleasant interview experience, especially this year when we have no other interaction with you! x10000001< which program are you referring to> not OP but I imagine mayo rochester x3

For all you folks attending Mayo social tonight, are you using the doordash giftcard dinner and eating DURING the social?? I feel like that's slightly odd and was wondering if I should just use it before

Interview impressions from last year from Mayo keep saying they ask 'profound' questions, what could that possibly mean? are they asking about the meaning of life?

For being a T10 derm program, why does Mayo have so many residents who are IMGs or from non T20 medical schools? <they take some of their research fellows who are sometimes IMGs
