Can anyone out there switch Miami interview dates? I have 1/12 but really trying to get 1/5..... would be dropping SUNY downstate if so!!! and possibly Hopkins as well... if anyone is on waitlist plsssss. also posted in swap tab
Can anyone please tell the SUNY downstate interview dates? < idk they didn't give me options but mine is Dec 1 < Thanks, I am trying to gauge if I have any slim chance of getting interviews in January if they have. If all interviews are in December, I would probably put it in my rejection list then
did you guys get a reply back from SUNY downstate after confirming your interview?
so is there gonna be some suny downstate trickle or nah? my heart is broken already rip < y'all need to chill out <that is a bit rude, they have a right to feel upset < and i have a right to tell them and their neuroticism to chill the fuck out, its been barely a day of interviews.
Just because I like stirring the pot.. UVM vs SUNY Downstate

For those who interviewed at downstate: what time did the interview start and end?
Thoughts on NYC program rankings. Previously it was discussed that NYU > Columbia > Cornell = Montefiore > Sinai=Downstate > Northwell > Stony Brook. Do we agree?
ARe SUNY Downstate IIs over? x2
SUNY Downstate II x9 Just got II, OOS no ties! It came via email so I think they're slowly trickling in
2021 applicant here- How did you guys decide if you were going to dual apply or just apply in derm. I'm at a low-tier school without a home program but have 10+ pubs, good letters, good scores, and am AOA. I'm just nervous about applying without a home program :/
How did you get good letters and pubs without a home program??
Once I learned that acgme only pays for one residency I knew I wouldn’t dual apply. If you would honestly do an internal med or whatever else residency before reapplying then fine, dual apply. But if it’s derm or bust then don’t waste your time and energy dual applying.
can anyone comment on SUNY downstate?
Residents are very happy. Skin of color may be overly represented. Lots of connective tissue disease and complex med esp lupus. Didactics are great, esp dermpath since the chairman teaches it and is very engaging. Volume/resident can be on the lower side since you often split patients between multiple residents to 1 attending.

I would do a research year if I were you. << know students like you wo home program, no research year, rotate at safety programs wo research year like downstate and you are more likely to do well << Is there really such a thing as a "safety program" in derm? << Yes, tons, especially your home program and aways, all the midtier programs or crappy locations are safety programs. If you noticed from this year, there are only like 30 programs that everyone loves and then everyone settles for the other 100. Just look at the rank list tab <this is such a cocky statement. "all the midtier programs" are safety schools? thats rediculous. dermatology is really competitive and not everyone has the luxury of picking only among top tier programs -- Yeah 75% of us don't get that luxury but the lucky 25% do. It sucks but that's life, you still get to be a dermatologist just not at the "dream" program/location.
