8 interviews, 1 is broward and 4 have only 2 residents per year and many internals. estimate my chances of matching pls. have II at home program with many internals, away and ⅔ signals < I will rank my list purely based on how much I want a program, instead of gauging how much likely I would match to a program because it is usually impossible to tell how program is going to rank you (unless you get a promise from PD). You may be right about which program would rank you high and matched it as your 1st choice. But then you missed one that you really like. And then if you ranked the one you are in love and this progam did not rank you high enough to match, you are then still able to match to the program that rank you high.

Any insight on a "top 10" list of just the historically DO programs?
There has never been an official list of rankings made by any organization
How long has broward's derm program been around?
DO program for a few years - just started taking MDs last year -- Broward is one of the most favorable MD programs of the previous DO residencies. They're already almost 50/50 and many DOs have said that they think it will be 100% MD within 5 years. They also transitioned way early on and have been accredited for a while now
Likelihood of them actually taking MDs rather than DOs? Have heard even though these programs are now accepting MDs, they still prefer DOs
I know an MD who matched last year <you can see the current residents on the website. they have 3 MDs and 5 DOs. seems they are taking more MDs now
Its really not fair to not consider MDs
why not?
And you wonder why some MD programs have DO bias...
Haven't met an MD program with DO bias - rather way too many MD programs with MD bias.
case western lol
anyone interviewing at Broward on 1/24 received any information on the day/location? trying to book a hotel and coordinator hasn't answered yet
<I interviewed in dec and stayed at the lauderdale botique hotel..and walked to interview!
Any chance of adding an Osteopathic Rotation/Interview Impressions tab since most of the programs aren't included in the tabs below? x6
DONE! Although technically most are formerly osteopathic programs. The 5 programs with current osteopathic recognition have an asterisk. There is also a "Comment" section below.
<why is Broward listed on this tab? When I interviewed, it was mostly if not all MDs at the interview, and they made it clear this program is no longer osteopathic-specific
it says most are "formerly" osteopathic programs. Of these 25 programs, only a half dozen were included in the original Interview Invite tab below. --> I know several DO's that interviewed at Broward! it is techically a "former" osteopathic program, even if they are taking less DOs -- Have heard DO students saying that Broward is basically MD at this point. They weren't hopeful that Broward would have any DOs in like 5 years. <- I'm an MD who interviewed at Broward and it very much seemed like this
These DO programs are still DO. Unless you’re an MD who rotated or have a personal connection you have 0 chance. And I want my money back! - Broward and Orlando are exceptions <yes, not true. external/no ties, MD, interviewed at Broward
has anyone else heard whether the other Florida osteopathic programs (or other ostepathic programs outside of FL) actually give preference to DOs?
For those who have already interviewed, what is your favorite program? Least favorite?
< is Pitt considered a top program? What is it known for
don't think they're really known for anything lol
are you kidding me? lol Mohs... Zitelli
he isn't involved in the residency though. other than a couple days with him
Favorite: HF, Least Favorite: Broward (Florida) << curious, why Henry Ford? << Same question, one of my least favorites so far.
Not the original poster to the left, but Henry Ford was super impressive. Very happy residents and all the resources of a top program. Detroit wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined, or at least not the area where the residency is
Some posts are shown because their comments mention this program.
Aren't there only like 20 programs, not sure if top 10 actually means anything. But Broward seems very well established for a DO program, and they were one of the first programs to merge well before the deadline. I would suspect some of the better DO programs were some of the first to go through the merger --> Broward isn't that great of a program. -- that may be true, but I don't know. I just used them as an example since they are already taking MDs and converted early.
