which prelim programs interview everyone who gets a derm interview?

#11672025–2026 DermFeb 21

emory, upmc

Feb 21
0

I think emory and UPMC are a bit separate in that the derm interview is the TY/prelim interview, IIRC some programs have you do a separate prelim interview but it's a guaranteed interview if you get a derm one?

Anyone else see that the BU prelim is reserved for neuro/ophtho applicants? It's on their website. I only found that out just now

#11302025–2026 DermFeb 21

yeah it's annoying how much info you have to glean going to individual sites

Vanderbilt IM prelim just emailed that they aren't taking any prelim residents next year

#10682025–2026 DermFeb 21

mind you i gave them a gold

Feb 21

that blows lmao

Feb 21

I feel like anyone who signaled them (gold or silver, especially gold) should get that back and be able to use it elsewhere. I know this will never happen, but this is really unfair.

ugh same boat, just noticed that the Emory website also said derm applicants shouldn't apply to the prelim program which is annoying

Tea on which programs almost always interview their away rotators? (either on the away or invite them later on), I know so far Emory, UF...

#5202025–2026 DermFeb 21

Miami, Tulane> Tennessee

Feb 21
0

so for these programs, do you not need to signal them (gold or silver) if you do an away rotation there?

Feb 21
0

you'll have to ask them, ik programs also change from year to year, signals are still fairly new

Feb 21
0

you def still should silver signal your aways at the least unless specifically told otherwise, but in my experience they all still wanted a signal some aways wanted silver and told us to save gold for others

Feb 21
2

heard wake forest interviews them all!> not true for WF >LSU

FSU, MUSC, Arkansas, UF

What programs are considered workhorse and what programs are considered chiller?

#5012025–2026 DermFeb 21

Emory NYU, Washu, lots of the Texas programs workhorse

Feb 21
0

LSU, Tennessee, Wake forest, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas are examples of chill ones

Feb 21
0

lies on the Texas programs being workhorse. There are definitely chill programs here. More reasons to take people's opinions cautiously.

Feb 21
0

same with nyu…yall are just parroting what you've heard people say in the past instead of talking about things you have actual knowledge about…

Feb 21

Is BU a chill program? Nope

Does anyone know if we can see prevous data on Residency Explorer? For example, at one point Emory had info on % gold signal

#4582025–2026 DermFeb 21

II but now that data is no longer there for the 2025 cycle.

Feb 21
0

last year from my memory Emory's stat was around 20/25% for a gold signal becoming an II

Feb 21
0

for Emory specifically would also account for the fact that they tell their away rotators to gold signal and auto interview them

Feb 21

anyone know which hospitals we rotate at for the Emory rotation?

#4182025–2026 DermFeb 21
0

is there a list of which programs guarantee interviews to their away rotators?

#4032025–2026 DermFeb 21

you can probably look at the old sheets linked on the reddit and it can give a rough idea

Feb 21
0

Feel like none of these aren't guaranteed anymore :(

Feb 21
0

no theres several that still auto interview. just look at the spreadsheets the information is there

Feb 21
0

Emory, Miami, Tulane auto IV. Maybe some other smaller programs do as well >since when is Miami auto IV? with their 400 internals lol >Miami only accepts 4-8 rotators per year and interview all of them during the rotation.

Kind of a long shot... I am reaching out to see if anyone is planning to come to Emory/Atlanta for an away rotation and needs one month of accommodation (flexible with any length). I have a one-bedroom condo available, conveniently located near all major hospitals.

mid program anyway lol

Feb 21

makes me fearful for my app tbh but i know like everyone applied so lol

Feb 21
0

i dont think it means anything if you were rejected, there were hundreds of apps

Feb 21
0

i know some people who got away rejection but interview so its all good!

Feb 21

I did three aways, and the program coordinator should tell you where to park a few days before you start! If they dont include parking info in your welcome email, you can ask them then. If you have severe parking anxiety like me, you can practice the day before or plan to get there ~45 minutes early on your first day

Feb 21
0

Do most aways provide a spot for parking? My school didn't provide parking for medical students so I'm curious if it's standard to be "nicer" to away students since they don't know the area well and they're only there for a month.

Feb 21
0

parking was free at all 3 of my aways.

Is Emory full? Haven't recieved a decision yet

#2252025–2026 DermFeb 21

apparently someone got an email 4/30 saying all invites have been sent out

Feb 21
0

so frustating that they haven't emailed several of us decisions, would be nice to get a rejection instead of being ghosted

Feb 21
1

Very unprofessional

Feb 21
0

was told by the admin directly that they're now full

Feb 21
0

was told by coordinator that if we haven't recieved a decision, it is still pending

Feb 21

Anyone hear anything else from Emory? Seems like only 2 people got accepted, for those who haven't heard back do you think we are rejected or still have a chance? Based on the spreadsheet, seems like a lot of away decisions are delayed this year

#1522025–2026 DermFeb 21

you could email the coordinator and ask, most likely all spots are filled but idk
