❌1. Residents are on their own when it comes to studying for board exams and the program is sadly underresourced with no in-house dermpath. Have to share VA with other DC residency programs. Terrible salary that is not adjusted to high COL in DC.

What about Henry Ford, Emory, UNC, NW? Henry Ford PD actually felt the need to reassure us during the interview presentation that they get to see skin cancer at community clinics because the main hospital is so heavily just skin of color

yes, but Dr. McMichael has an interest in SOC so tailors her teaching/clinic to that. She gave a talk to our program a few years ago, hence the fangirling.

Yes: 2 No: 0 Programs: WashU (regular), Stanford, Minnesota Actual: Recap of Wednesday 11/6/19 Invites: 0 Rejections: 1 (U of Rochester) TY/Prelim released today (2): U Pitt (Prelim and TY), Brockton (TY) Derm interviews released since Monday (12 first time offers, 1 research track, 1 second wave): U New Mexico, U Arkansas, Oklahoma, Eastern Virginia, Howard, NYU, Mississippi, Medical College of Wisconsin, Georgetown, Wash U (Research), Henry Ford, George Washington, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and Cooper (2nd wave) TY/Prelim released this week: UVA (Prelim), U Pitt (Prelim and TY) and Brockton (TY) As of 8:40 EST: 63% of derm programs have not sent out interviews and a sum total of ~171/447 (38%) derm spots have been offered interviews. What's the point? IT IS EARLY and the overwhelming majority of spots have not been offered interviews yet AND even the ones that have been offered may not have offered for all their spots. On this equivalent day (i.e. first Wednesday of the month) last year: 1 interview went out (George Washington University, which came out yesterday for us). On tomorrow’s equivalent day (i.e. first Thursday of November) last years: 6 derm interviews went out and 1 med/derm interview! (Wayne State, U Minnesota, Dartmouth, Columbia, Virginia Tech, Southern Illinois and Washington MedDerm) Looking ahead: This week last year was a busy week for interviews with 16 being released in total! For anyone interviewing at Howard tmro, has anyone heard if the day is still going as planned? Per local news, Howard University will be closed, though this doesnt necessarily apply to the medical center or even college of medicine. Have not heard anything from program coordinator either...
