Is Medicare funding an issue for prelims who reapply and match? << It really shouldn't be. I've seen the explanation on the UTMB Derm blog website (http://digutmb.blogspot.com/2014/05/what-dermatology-applicants-need-to.html), but I've never really seen it play out in practice in terms of reapplying and matching.

Fame & Shame
2025–2026 Derm
3 entries✅1. Took more diverse class this time around
❌1. Really disappointed that they decided to not offer interview to away rotators that golded. This was one of the genuine programs I liked
❌2. The fact that they only took 1 home student is crazy

What'd you guys think of UTMB? No one filled out the IV impression
For those interviewing at UTMB (Galveston) - is there a social the night before? Also, have interview schedules been sent out yet?
UTMB Galveston! IS no signal

Anyone carpooling from Houston to Galveston (roundtrip): 1/29-1/30? If so, could I please join?
Besides UTSW (#1) and UT Houston (#2), how would y'all rank the rest of the texas programs: (San Antonio, Austin, Galveston, Tech, Baylor Houston, Baylor Dallas, A&M/Temple)
UTSW wouldn’t be my #1 though so.... (I guess I mean purely based on quality/reputation, not location or personal preference)
lol its the reputation among residents that's bringing it down...good medicine though
the only residents who seem to say bad things about UTSW are those not at UTSW. Those at UTSW have wonderful things to say about their program
Can anyone elaborate on UT Austin?
it's in Austin, nuff said. basically #1 selling point of the program <They hired a lot of great faculty from other good schools. They will be a strong program with all that they are putting into it.
As a non-Texan, I don't understand the difference between Austin, Houston, and Dallas
Can we get an insider perspective on how the Texas programs rank similar to the CA discussion earlier? Seems like UTSW is the easy #1, but what about after that?
UTMB Gaveston Rejection x10001
heard they only interview internals and rotators. whatta waste of an application --- Not true, they will interview externals but almost exclusively Texas and sometimes Louisiana, Outside of those two states getting an external is unlikely
A very nice rejection email at least
so has the trickle come and gone or is it yet to come, the slowly increasing % of invites is freaking me out
it's okay you're not alone haha went from like 50th percentile down to 30s
i think it's yet to come, people hang on until like mid-december
UTMB Galveston x3
ERAS, external, rotator x1
congrats to any externals that got this one. yall are superstars. UTMB gives out very few externals and the people who get them are some of the best in the region. good job, you should be proud of yourself! << Thank you!!! x2

Medicare still pays 70% of a spot even if you "run out of funding". It's how people from Peds or FM can do a residency in derm after. Honestly it's not that big a deal.
