✅1. The faculty and residents are incredibly kind
❌1. Not their fault, but the commute between sites really sucks and is why I won't be ranking it higher. Most residents live in UES which is great but the commute is between 45 min to 1 hr 15 depending on what site you're at.

Northwell/Hofstra Interview x9 (Email)
External, non-rotator x2
any rotators get an invite? ...no << no rotators got an invite, or you are a rotator and didnt get an invite? << rotator, no invite
im so sorry dude. i had something similar happen to me.
im literally from long island and i didnt get an interview. i straight up do not understand what is going on. X2 is it just me or should these programs be required to at least interview applicants born/raised there - my family’s tax dollars pays for the hospital << idk if thats supposed to be an insult at me, i was just saying that geographically i was hoping to receive an invite and i didn't get one. not that i should have mandatory got one.
not an insult. I’m serious
<--- yeah, programs don't think like that. They just want the best residents they can get.
i obv dont think im a bad applicant, guess im just not good enough for anyone
literal aunt becky moment happening to the left

I think we're past due for Colorado, due for UCLA/UT Austin/UCSD/Hofstra

Same x4
Today felt oddly quiet without any rejections x4!
I am a third year medical student in NYC looking for a research fellowship between my M3 and M4. Does anyone have any suggestions? Most of the positions are for people post medical school.
Check out the MRSP program at the NIH
Talk to upper classmen or people who matched in past few years to see if you can get linked with their mentors. Otherwise email people who publish in the location you want to do research with. It might take 50 emails to find the person x2
Here's an easy thing to do: You're at a NYC school? If you're at Einstein, do research at Einstein and you'll match there, almost gaurenteed - look at thier past matches. If you're at NYU, do research at NYU. If you're at Columbia, do research there, etc. etc. You're most likely to match your home program anyways, and if you're at a NYC school it's most likely a good school so just solidify your connections there. Good luck!
Has anyone heard back from Henry Ford yet about which date they gave you?
<yes, heard back about an hour ago! x2 << I haven't :( as of 15:30 CST x4 << to the person who heard back, did you send them another email this morning with their updated dates? Or just your initial email yesterday? x2 >>I emailed right away yesterday before the new email today! << internal? and/or regional? >> neither. definitely probably just responding as she gets through them!>>Anybody with 11/25 interview want to split Ubers to/from the airport? Trying to figure out if it's going to be better to fly or drive
How great of a program is Henry Ford?
Daily lectures at 7:30 Clinic scheduled to 5PM ten notes residents often sta past 6PM daily ... you decide
lol also world leaders in subspecialties, some of the biggest names in the field, cutting edge trials and supportive faculty but to each their own
< not very according to doximity <HF is well-respected program
<but can doximity be trusted?
if not, what else could be trusted though?
very true there are not many derm rankings that are updated annualy
< Doximity is pretty poop at rankings
< ok Einstein why don't you make the rankings then
<yeah people always shit on doximity but what's the rationale behind why it sucks so much? The top programs make sense
<HF is a very well respected program IMO

arent those the only two left? what about casewestern?
there's a lot left (loma linda, case western, einstein, brown ucla, fsu, temple, baylor in dallas, etc.)
I have about 10 places I applied to that have not sent invites/external invites...and I did not apply everywhere x2 <just look at the interview invites spreadsheet to see who's left
has baylor come out? (it seems that baylor houston already did)
baylor houston came out for internals only so far (pls correct this if I'm wrong)

Einstein for location and patient diversity<einstein is in the bronx, not a great location...I'd go to Michigan hands down, it is superior in every aspect
michigan so you don't have to live in the bronx
einstein so you can live in NYC and not ann arbor<lol any other thoughts on programs itself?
Michigan has ?malignant reputation FWIW
What kind of dermatologist do you want to be? Academics? Michigan hands down. Amazing network. Their residents go on to become Chairs of departments. Einstein for gen derm
Hofstra/northwell out
Einstein out

UCLA sent externals very late in the past. A few of the others wait until this week...and a few are very very late compared to the past haha
