Can we get a list of programs that DO NOT use Epic? So I can avoid/rank lower thanks. < you can also ask during interviews!

Fame & Shame
2025–2026 Derm
3 entries❌1. Been waiting to drop this about Northwell (tried to post about this before rank lists were due but was accused of trying to manipulate others' rankings): during my rotation, I walked in on a faculty member/resident using a racial slur while referring to my co-rotator. the convo immediately stopped when I entered the room. I later reported the incident through Hofstra's official reporting channels, but nothing came of it. neither my co-rotator nor I ended up receiving interviews from the program (which is whatever). despite the program appearing to have a diverse group of residents, I would strongly caution against rotating at Northwell if you're a POC
❌2. Vibes were so odd on interview day, idk how to describe it but at best people just don't seem to actually be friends with each other, at worst actively dislike each other. Program itself seems fine but I wasn't comfortable ranking it highly based on the culture I experienced that day
❌3. Toxic culture where there are weird vibes between residents and attendings. Residents are treated more like cheap mid-level labor. Teaching faculty are very junior and did not appear committed to resident education, with mostly self-led resident lectures. Clinic volumes are high and seemed more like a private practice than an academic teaching environment. As a rotating student, I did not feel comfortable asking questions because of this environment. My perception was that I would be more of a burden to the resident and faculty for asking questions. I ignored the comments about Northwell in Name and Shame threads from years ago but I wish I had taken them to heart and rotated elsewhere.

Is Northwell toxic? What's the tea on the chair?
kelly frasier as your chair is enough to not rank
?? there was some talk on this sheet a while ago about Garg being toxic. I wanna know the tea. Don't really care about Kelly.
You should care about Kelly. Kelly knows all.
Lol you're funny
Not just chair but other attendings and residents too
vibe during rotation is very formal and iffy, most were hard to read, very few seemed happy and cool

I didnt do any NY aways but I have strong ties with my entire family living in NYC and growing up in the state. I have pretty good stats, expriences and LORs and would love to go back to be by my support system. Are there any NYC + adjacent schools worth sending a gold to?
northwell in longisland /queens, close not as popular as Manhattan programs
sooo does anyone know if Northwell is gonna show up on ERAS? -wdym its there
oh weird, if you select by state it doesnt show up, but then when i just search for it, it comes up. nvm!
I'm not seeing Northwell Health showing up on ERAS. Is this true for anyone else?
nah just you, they banned u
Kelly Frasier's watching.> Don't see it either
Any RY fellowships that basically guarantee match? Pls don't say Sinai because I go there and they don't guarantee
I thought they do for MD RY fellowships?
UTHouston does
which PI at UT Houston?
Dr. Adelaide A. Hebert
Dell in Texas has matched their fellow every year for the past several years
Hebert doesn't know if she will have one and Dell lost funding for this upcoming year for their RY> UH case
northwell Garg it looks like
UH CASE DOES NOT GUARANTEE (HORRIBLE REP OF NOT MATCHING FELLOW PRE DOC AND POST DOC)
Can we talk about how Derm Link Scholars is absolutely a pay-to-play game and they just put out low quality research with little to no physician oversight? And the people in charge have like 50-100+ pubs out of it but all low quality journals, random review articles that are probably written by mainly ChatGPT and everyone on the paper splits the APC fees out of pocket lol.
y r u so bitter
im also not 100% sure if those physicians that are tacked on are derms lol
its 100% a scam taking advantage of med students to pay and then publish in trash journals so unethical sad to see
now its turned into a money grab with the conference
the fees go directly to journals. most students (usually MD) have APC waived due to affiliation with instution so they dont have to pay for publishing fees. none of the amnt goes to DLS. if you happen to be on a paper where none of the authors have APC aggreement thru their school then yes sometimes student pay and the cost is $30 a student so its not much. Also student that are very familiar on research know what good journal to publish in that dont have fees
im sorry but as the founder of Derm Link, im so annoyed by all of you applicants who think you can just be rude or mean. THIS TOOK A LOT OF WORK AND IM SORRY WE ARE TRYING TO HELKP PEOPLE
chill
it's hard to tell if this is real feedback about the derm link scholars page vs people wishing they were able to hop on some pubs
"pubs" lol> dermlink scholars pretty much the crux of everything wrong with the research mill of derm these days lol
Exactly!! Just inflating their #s by getting as many pubs as they can from shitty journals that accept everyone and arent even PubMed Indexed. they're publishing mainly in predatory journals.
who runs this group? seems like it needs to be reported
med students and a non-derm physician
the person matched dermatolgy. Im confused...
lowk i'm working with them but i agree, it's not producing research into anything new or innovative in derm it's not really research
same..> yikes, yeah i saw that some articles aren't coauthored by derms.... idk
i think it's a good way for people without research to dip their foot in, as it's hard to get research opportunities without any research on your CV. for derm, probs not the best to solely do DLS but it can be helpful to start. just my opinion >Why are comments being deleted
Most of the papers do not have dermatologists on them.
having a derm on a paper isnt rq for good research in the field. if you published a very good article with a PCP about melanoma etc im sure derm programs will eat that shit up. I think its dissapointing to see the negative attitudes over this orgs efforts to help students out. Im not a part of this org, however a derm faculty would find these kind of attitudes as a turn off. Its not good to tear down other ppl and their work. Its still an accomplishment. Also side note, these kind of negative uncollaborative attiudes are able to be picked up in interviews and away rotations
who is the non derm physician that runs it?
I think KF.
reapp who matched at her post-PGY1 RY program
what place does she have senior authoring/running this?
oh i see i thought yall meant an attending from another speciality - at least she is in derm and will soon be boarded? I don't think she's a derm resident yet til 2026
shes at Northwell in NYC. Its clear that she def was a competitive applicant to match there, especially at a NY program because they are so competive in that region. She also the only DO student to have been accepted to the program at least in the last 4 years. Idk if shes the first DO student, but clearly seems like her 100+ research whether published in low-tier journals or not has paid off in some ways. I applaud her for trying to make as space for students to get on research.
GIRL YOU OR ONE OF THE DLS MINIONS DEFINITELY WROTE THAT LMAO
funny you assumed, im a girl. Im not a part of DLS or anyone minions. But i can just tell when ppl give biased/fake advice to their peers applying derm and it need to be clocked (i.e. like telling ppl to leave published work of their application by fear mongering them). having a publication in derm, even if its in a low tier journal is better, than having nothing or having less..PDs at huge schools will prob not know who this girl is and they will not throw your app to the trash for publishing work with her and other students. like please make it make sense. And for those that cant make up their mind on whether to keep the research on their app or not, please share your CV with your current PD/chair/mentor in your next meeting and see if they will point it out...bc they wont even care
lol love that KF or someone on the DLS team is defending every single column in this thread !!!
> i will say, it seems like she works very hard and at least very much so deserves her match DLS is off but cant deny her hard work
chill

why is geisinger a catepillar and northwell a trashcan in the match list. i am having way too much fun trying to figure out these emojis
Anyone else see the northwell interview email about the 7 minute monologue? Thoughts lol >what is this? >>> I guess its more or less "tell me about yourself"
does northwell have any spots open on thalamus?
just got northwell II
Some please fill out the rest of the nyc programs! tysm<<<Ditto, I am waiting for SUNY Downstate, Columbia, Stonybrook and Northwell. What's the hold up :(
what if any peds prelims have sent out offers? < weschester, zucker, MCW<also children's mercy< related to this, does anyone have a sense as to how competitive peds prelims are? obviously there are very few total spots available but I have a hard time gauging how many people actually apply to them--and have few people to ask for guidance since no one does them
Who received RTM or post-inteview communication from programs outside the top 10? < Northwell but it didn't say RTM < got a couple "you did an excellent job interviewing" and "looking forward to working with you" emails but nothing that said RTM explicitly
How accessible is NYC to residents at Northwell? Realistically how often as a resident would I be in the city? Not familiar with the area at all and Northwell itself seems really suburban.. <it is suburban. Getting into and out of NYC can be very difficult from that area more times than not < residents live in the city including manhattan and brooklyn so that makes it a little easier.... but yes the clinic sites/hospitals are suburban and far from the city
