which one would you pick between utsw and emory

what's the final opinion on utsw?<depends on your interview day, if you were on the day for internals, the stockholm syndrome is real and its GREAT. if you are an outsider looking in, it seems like utsw has found a way to convince its trainees that the shit they are getting served is actually chocolate (the cheap kind too)<WTF

Lol I’m sad bc a program I really like asked all applicants to email any updates for publications since ERAS opened and I don’t have any updates. RIP. Sometimes it’s hard to stay positive throughout this process<don't worry, UTSW is not worth the stress

fwiw, the top applicants this season have been seeing each other across most of these virtual interviews. newsflash, there's about 40-50 of them, accounting for regional bias, and they are the ones that can really compare an interview from stanford to one from harvard to ucsf to utsw, etc. if you don't don't have those kinds of options, follow doximity rankings or whatever other metric brings you joy. No one is trying to screw with your rank list here, only you can control that. The comments on this spreadsheet are just what would be happening in person in real-time if that were an option, probably with more honesty than otherwise possible.

so if you go to utsw, is it really going to be toxic? <I def got some concerning vibes from my interview day, but ultimately it's a strong derm program and I will still rank it (although not as highly as I thought). Also worth mentioning that even the most "toxic" derm program is still probably better than most programs in pretty much every other specialty

did you feel like utsw was malignant?< As someone who did not apply there or interview, I will say I dont know<malignant? no, toxic environment, yes, their residents were literally chuckling over the parts of their program that are clearly problematic< which parts did they say were problematic?
