Fame & Shame

2025–2026 Derm

4 entries

1. Elitist (to no one's surprise), and many faculty give preferential treatment to rotating medical students from more prestigious schools. As much as they emphasize being socially attuned and progressive, at the end of the day, they're just another ivory tower institution masquerading as a social justice warrior.

1. You don't actually HAVE to be a former pediatrician to apply for this and be considered. Wish I knew this earlier, I would have applied.

2. Interviewer made disparaging comments about where I went to school

💬1. It does say on their website "preferred but not required;" I wonder if they've taken applicants w/o previous peds residency. > guess we will find out soon > this is the first year of the track and it seemed like everybody was an MS4 during the interview +1

Day 4: MCG or UCSF? It's looking more likely interviews have gone out and people are silent. Nothing on my end

#29772025–2026 DermFeb 21

MCG will probably go to internals, on the internals tab they have a lot of reapplicants and they usually only take internals and away rotators

Any insight on whether prestige of prelim year matters as a reapplicant? Will a program you already interviewed with interview you again?

#28902025–2026 DermFeb 21

some more elite programs want a prelim, not a TY.

Feb 21
0

What about between prelims? >some programs say they want an "academic" prelim AKA a hard one. But those programs tend not to be ones that are reapplicant friendly. UCSF is one that comes to mind.

5 people ranking UCSF #1 I AM SCARED

#28422025–2026 DermFeb 21

but now ucsf has to rank those 5 people lol it'll be okay friend ;)> bro just cut it out!

Feb 21
0

reality is it all depends on where u fall on the program's list anyway. even if somebody ranks UCSF #10 and they fall down that far on their rank list, if u are not ranked as highly as the person falling down their rank list they will match even if u rank ucsf #1. just rank how u like each program accordingly
